Hey all,

My windows 7 install CD does not appear to have a 64bit option? Or am I not waiting long enough in the install process to make that choice?

I slapped in the Cd, did custom install. Partitioned my drives, and it started to install. But at no EARLY ON point did I get a 32bit or 64bit install option? So I stopped the install and wanted to ask if my CD only has 32bit mode windows 7?

I was told all windows 7 Cds came with both 32bit and 64bit?

Anyone care to school me?

Thanks!

Yeah, not sure what the first responder meant, but both platforms aren't on the same disc. What type of license did you buy, and how did you obtain it? Those answers will let us continue.

Hello ilsmku, welcome to Seven Forums!

If that is a volume license disk you will need a volume liscense key to activate it, did your dad give you a key to use to activate it with?

Yes he did. And he said I couldnt install it on any other computers but my one. So should this have the 64bit option? And if so, where in the install process does the option to select 32bit or 64bit chime in? Because, I get to the hard drive partitioning window, then click install and it starts to slap files onto my drive for install. Which made me wonder if its just installing 32bit, or if its going to give me the option to choose way later?

My one disk has all the versions on it. ;)
Show off! I just made a flash drive last week with all versions and platforms on it. Love it!

It's great, everything on one DVD and can boot the ISO to install in VirtualBox; though you need a separate key to activate each version.
Anyone interested can view the link below. ;)

OK but you still need two DVDs one x86 and one x64 to make the one DVD with all included. Just so there is no confusion :D

You have to have either the 64-bit OR the 32-bit DVD to install with, it's one or the other, you will not get to choose during installation.

If you know someone with a 64-bit disk of the EXACT version your dad gave you, you may be able to use that to install the 64-bit version and then use the key from your dad to activate it.

I saw one (not Toshiba, not an international company, its a national company in India (HCL); the interface is custom; not like our retail X64 or X86 Ultimate ones. It nearly does "unattained". I mean, user dont have to choose versions.
I dont know how it does, though.
