Hello world,

I'm trying to do a clean install of windows 7 (OEM) on a 2TB caviar green WD20EARX.

The problem shows up during windows installation when it asks ' where do you want to install windows?'

Only 1 disc is shown with 2048.0GB of free space (which is correct), it's name is "Disk 0 Partition 1"

It says that the disc has a MBR partition table and windows can only be installed to GPT drives.

When I try to format the drive it reads [Error: 0x80070057]

Can you help me please?

PS My motherboard is a Gigabyte H77M-D3H, CPU is an i5-3550 with 8GB of 1333MHz RAM and one 2TB Caviar Green WD20EARX hard drive.

Check your mobo or computer model Download webpage to see if there is a newer BIOS update to handle the larger HD.

Remove from BIOS Boot Order the EFI Boot disk which installs only 64 bit OS to GPT disks.

If this fails to allow you to create a smaller install partition during Clean Install Windows 7 using Custom Drive Options, then re-partition the HD with a smaller install partition using Step 2.2. here SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation or free Partition Wizard bootable CD. Partition Wizard Create Partition Video Help

Otherwise you may need to convert the HD to GPT, put the EFI Boot disk first in BIOS Boot order, install only 64 bit as shown here: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums
