Windows 7 compatible Antivirus

I beta tested McAfee Total Protection and getting ready to beta test McAfee Total Protection 2010, in the interlude, I am beta testing Norton AntiVirus 2010.

Didn't like Avast, too clunky, Antivirus should be easy to use and not too overwhelming.

AVG turned out to be a lemon as of late, missing several viruses.

NAV 2010 is nice, but they only offer a 14 day subscription for the Beta. So far it is much lighter than any previous version of NAV and has a performance monitor built-in. Had full tech support for an error, entered online chat, tech support rep connected to my machine, though it wasn't necessary, got the reports he needed, was very pleasant, and yes this was on the Beta, so whomever paid for it, err sorry.

McAfee Total Protection is great, offer a 180 subscription for the Beta, can install on multiple machines, tells you if a machine on your network is not protected.

What about the firewall for ESET SS 4?

My desktop finally gave up the ghost so I decided to upgrade to 64-bit while I was buying a new computer. I'll also be upgrading to Windows 7 when I receive my CD next month.

I’ve been looking for an AV & ESET has definitely caught my eye but I keep hearing complaints about the firewall for Smart Security. Would I be better served buying NOD32 and using an independent firewall like Comodo?

Thanks.

My subscription for Beta 2010 runs out December 31 2009. Last time I spoke/emailed with support people they said they want to have it retail by about the launch of "7".

Well, the main problems seem to be centered around sharing files and I'm not on a network. Looks like I'll be giving ESET a try.

Thanks, tw33k. :D

100% using ESET Smart Security. Firewall set to interactive, so I can choise. Never a problem with NOD 32 AV.

Works IMHO Perfect with Windows 7.

Well, ESS and Nod32 are two different things. If you are using ESS, you have the firewall, as you have stated. It does NOT work perfectly in Windows 7 when it comes to sharing folders. Straight from ESET, they are working on a new firewall module (1052) to fix this issue and it has not been released yet.

I just don't want people buying ESS thinking it works perfectly with Windows 7 because it does not. Not yet anyway.

It still doesn't appear on their website that ESET works with Windows 7. So far, it seems only BitDefender Total Security 2010 and now NIS 2010 are claiming to work in Windows 7.

I'm actually curious to hear some of the reviews about Norton's latest release. I'm looking for a suite that handles 64-bit.

Yeah. But, aren't the problems just about file sharing now? I'm not hearing as many complaints about being unable to access the Internet any more.

That's right, the problems with eset's firewall do relate to sharing files across a LAN. Like igster said, eset are working on this and I expect it to be resolved by the time windows 7 is available to the general public

Each to there own.
1. NIS is one of the biggest pieces of CRAP going. (IMHO) every system brought in with bad trojans and malware have NIS. I tell them (remove NIS) and I will work on , it stay i do not work on or fix.

2. I have NO PROBLEMs with ESET SS 4.0.437, Nada, 100% works FINE. Sharing and what ever I do... Sorry.

The pretext of the Original Thread was AV ... and NOD 32 is part of ESET SS.

Please, use norton 2010.
Norton 2005-2008 had a horrible detection rate and clogged down your system, but 2009-2010 is awesome, amazing detection rate and doesnt slow down your computer at ALL!
