The error message that is displayed when I start my notebook is:

"Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
If Windows files have been damaged or configured incorrectly, startup repair can help and fix the problem. If power was interrupted during startup, choose start windows normally.
Launch Startup Repair (recommended)
Start Windows Normally"

I've tried Startup Repair several times but it's not working.

I'm currently using my computer by pressing F8 during startup and selecting 'windows 7 last known good configuration'.

I did sfc /scannow and it says 'windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations'.

If I go to 'View update history' I see that the same update 'Update for Windows 7 (KB2923545)' has been done 4 times between 25 Feb and 27 Feb (each time the status is Successful). Now there is a new notification that '1 important update is available' and it's the same one: Update for Windows 7 (KB2923545).

If I go to 'Installed updates' there is no record of these 4 last updates in the Microsoft Windows list. The last update in this list is 'Update for Microsoft Windows KB2913751'.

I've done a backup and I'm considering reinstalling Windows 7 but I'm hoping to avoid this. I'd appreciate some suggestions on how to solve this problem.

Thanks.

I ended up taking my computer to the store and they checked it out. It was a driver conflict problem which they were unable to solve, so they re-installed Windows and now it's working fine. Thanks.
