its a continual ''work in progress''....
OK so here i go.... about to make the sad looser comment of the year lol
I haven't tried more than 1 game on 7 purely for the fact that i have just made a fresh install of vista and then made the most recant install of 7
so since then iv only made 1 game install (sad act moment coming up )
the game in question is....... drum roll pls.... World of Warcraft :p
Now as all of you will know this game is nothing special in the graphics department however any who has played this game will know even for the most high end speced pc when visiting 1 of the few major cities you are guaranteed to suffer from fps lag... this is due to the huge amount of players running round casting spells ect and not to mention the time it takes to render all the buildings.... more so when u have view distance, terrain details and all the other setting maxed out.... you really are asking your pc to calculate the meaning of life!
well i have tested this in 7 and although this has not completely gone i can certainly say its barely noticeable
so imo i can certainly say there has been a great improvement in the performance of 7

Not fast enough!
I'm getting a great FPS improvement with Fallout 3 +ATI beta driver in W7.

Conversely, Far Cry 2 freezes the PC instead of CTD in an hour like in Vista :p

I do see a farily obvious improvement in 7 (Sapphire 4870x2, running the much reviled 8.12 drivers), but I can't say it has anything to do with the Operating System. Why? My mother stopped by the other day, and I sat her down with the monitor calibration tool and asked her to apply her (Professional Art Director) eyes for a bit.

Highly Recommended tweak, BTW.

My unscientific testing tells me that it's snappier in games (WoW, BioShock, The Witcher). As well as being generally a bit more responsive.

But on the negative side I've been having random hard locks, necessitating using the Reset button to get back to a responsive system. Lack of a Blue Screen/Mini Dump has put a pretty severe hurt on troubleshooting efforts... But it *is* a Beta, after all, and I'm using a video driver with known issues.

Good Case for maintaing the Dual Boot.

Definite framerate improvements in most games is most likely down to windows 7 not feeling the need to constantly rape your HDD like Vista does and the far smaller memory footprint.

Most games I've played have at least appeared to run/load faster. Mostly because 7 has a smaller CPU/Memory footprint.

Games certainly feel a lot more responsive in Win7. Alt tabbing source games is quicker.

I see some improvments over some games, however others that have ran in XP fail to run in 7, other times the game randomly crashes. I have noticed hitman 2 silent assasin has stopped crashing every 1 level, a problem i had in vista, but ya it is better for gaming if u kno how to properly set up the games first :what:

My gaming performance sux on win 7 :(
I only game in Single Player Campaign but I sure can notice a huge increase in everything I have played on 7 ultimate x64 that I had also played in Vista Ultimate x64. + 10 on what some of you guys are saying about the footprint and resource hog that is Vista.

This is all "Seat of the Pants" benchmarks but my butt is pretty good at it since I usually don't do benchmark apps (to complex for me really).

I have played the following games w/o a single glitch and w/o tweaking 7 (or vista) one bit... I am not a guru so tweaking is not part of my daily routines ;)

Sometimes, I have gone through them a couple or few times, others, I have left at the half way mark cos I couldn't endure the repetitiveness anymore but that's not really here nor there

Far Cry 2 .....

CoD 4

CoD 5

Half Life 2 + Ep 1 + Ep 2 ..... No need to run in Comp Mode at all.

Vegas 2

GRAW 2

Fallout 3 ..... Couldn't get out of the Bunker, to tedious for me.

Crysis ...... I'll be trying the x64 next, didn't do it the first time out.

Warhead

Vista = noticed some hesitation in fps at some intermittent times, speeds were fast, graphics awesome.

Win 7 = No hesitations what so ever, slightly faster speed increments as well, awesome graphics, perhaps crispier and more solid all around.

Could not be happier with the OS, I don't use the Eye candy side of it at all (Media Center) so I can testify if this is better than Vista but, when it comes to games... the difference is like Night & Day

Two Thumbs up

Playing games on windows 7 is better than on Vista and you get more fps, BUT worse than playing them on Xp. I noticed this fact in my pc. I get way lower fps and system is generally slower than with xp.
