Windows 7 freezes in sleep mode

Windows 7 is freezing in sleep mode now... I don't think it's my drivers or anything because 2 updates earlier it worked fine. I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is an RC problem, or if something is wrong with my computer. I hope not since this computer is only 2 week old... There is like nothing on it and everything downloaded has been from a disk so no viruses (well except kasperky anti-virus but I HOPE that would be clean lol).

Basically when I put it into sleep manually, I cannot get it out, and my power/reset buttons do not work, I actually need to turn off the electricity.

Oh, and it's not my screen considering I CAN turn my screen on but it goes right back into powersave mode (sleep mode). I DID force it out once, and it said no signal from the computer even though the computer is on. This leads me to believe it is the OS (or god forbid one of my parts).

WAAAAAIIIIIITTTTT I just realized something... I have on HD connected via sata cable, but I took the power away from it (I wanted to hear something). I mean is that the possible cause? I doubt it though since it's not registered as an HD due to having no power... And my sound card light is on, so I'm assuming that is still on when I put the computer in powersave mode... Maybe that's an issue?

One possible option: Disable legacy USB support in BIOS. Fixes this problem sometimes. If it doesn't do the trick, re-enable legacy USB support.

Option 2: Download and (re)install Asus ACPI driver. Boot. Test problem. If it still exists, Device Manager/System Devices/ATK0110 ACPI Driver/ UNINSTALL - do not boot. Scan for hardware changes, let Windows automatically install. Boot, test.

If it doesn't work, post back

Tried legacy USB support, didn't work. going to reinstall the driver now. I'm assuming this is incase the driver is corrupted or something? It's possible but I doubt it since it worked fine before.

I hope to get this fixed because shutting off the electricity many times CANNOT be good for the computer lol.

Does it go into sleep mode automatically? My com never goes into sleep mode, even when I leave it unattended for a long time.

In a elevated command prompt, type powercfg -a and press Enter.

This will give you a report of the available sleep states for your computer and will attempt to report reasons why sleep states are unavailable. You will want to see if the ACPI S1 and/or S3 is listed.

I have been having this living hell since I started with windows 7 betas. I even bought a new mobo to try and fix it. I think I have had a solution on my mobo - Asus p5q se/r. The driver that windows 7 by default in the ATK0110 (acpi) in device manager was a 2004 driver. I updated this from the install cd which I think was a 2006 driver. Also, I was using a wiress keyboard and a usb mouse, until yesterday I had enabled for allow to wake from resume. Disabling them and the above seems to have prevented the above problem! I have not had htis problem since doing this! I had followed all the other helpful suggestions from similar threads on this forum (install mst standby etc), but still did not resolve it. I hope this helps anyone with a asus mobo that might have the issue.

It didn't work =/ one thing I wish to point out is I think W7 downloaded the previous Bios version. Maybe the new one isn't compatible idk, but I don't want to download a new bios version just for this... besides it worked fine with this bios.

Already updated from the install cd lol.
My thing is this, I have a wireless keyboard andmouse, and I was even considering that the wireless utilities are the problem. I would like to try what you said, but where can I disable wake from resume?

EDIT: NIGEL THANK YOU!!!! IT FIXED IT. It wasn't a major issue, but it was a huuuugggeee annoyance. I just put the computer to sleep while I grab a snack and all that, and it's nice for it to work now.

I too faced the same issue( Machine Dell M2800, windows 7 64 bi)t.... my audio drivers gave hard time.. machine was also slow... after starting from stand by mode.... I tried everything including running the Audio drivers, Chipset drivers.... finally, the helpful was 'running the diagnostic' tool from Dell site. ie.
