Windows 7 gets stuck after installing restart @ Finishing Installation

Hey there,

i did some searching beforehand, but cant find anything satisfying my specific needs for my troubles...
I spent the whole day installing and researching...

In case anyone knows where i can find further help, please let me know.


System Specifics:
Every part of the computer is completely new.
Its a selfconfigured system...

Processor: AMD FX-8120 3,1GHz
Mainboard: Gigabyte GA-970-UD3 (BIOS F4)
RAM: DDR3 2x4GB 1600MHz
Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 TI 1GB
SSD: 120GB SATA 6Gb/s
DVD: SATA Liteone iHas122

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit

So basically my problem is what is stated in the topic already.

Windows loads the data off of the ORIGINAL (purchased it today) DVD, extracting files etc.
Then after the Computer restarts and loads, the installation process comes back up again, and shows the "moving dots" behind "Finishing Installation Process" for about 10-15 seconds, then they freeze... i left it for 2 hours. Nothing happened.
I tried unplugging everything during the reset, after another try to install it. It freezes.
I tried the "Shift+F10" --> explorer.exe . It freezes.

I tried a downloaded copy of Win7 Prof.... same thing, it freezes.
I tried 3 different Sata2 HDDrives, same thing it freezes.

I am out of options i know of.

What else can i do? Any other details i can provide you with?

I would really appreciate every single hint i can get.

PS: I did try with formatting and without formatting. It partitions by itself anyhow, but i tried both ways too, so thats definitely now the problem however stated on any other website... i somehow believe its one guy posting the same thing on the whole web

It's possible its a driver hanging during those final stages. Enter Device Manager to look for any Devices in error (likely Video card) to uninstall the driver to allow installation to finish, then update it from desktop via optional Windows Updates. Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation

Next try removing one stick of RAM to try install. Swap stick to try again. Then test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Next reset BIOS to defaults, then set SATA controller to AHCI to try install first (next try IDE mode), look for EFI boot disk in Boot order listings which must be removed to install to MBR disk on EFI BIOS, set HD first to boot then use one-time BIOS Boot Menu key to trigger DVD.

Next write the latest official installer ISO to flash stick, boot under USB, REmovable or HD's. Everything you need is here including steps to get a perfect install even for retail: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

If stick fails, unplug DVD drive to try again. Then burn latest ISO to DVD using tool provided, try DVD install again.

Try wiping the HD with Diskpart Clean Command accessing DISKPART At PC Startup .

Test your HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan followed by Disk Check from DVD command line.

If all else fails move HD to another machine to install plugged in alone, SysPrep to move HD to another computer before moving it back to problem PC.

aight will try although i can already tell you that the AHCI option will cause an instant bluescreen with me at startup, which i cant even read out because its gone within a split second

ok so the devicemanager option brought up that there were a lot of devices malfunctioning, so i disabled them, but the OS still froze upon restart.

removal of one ram slot and switching them through doesnt seem to do anything either.

tried the AHCI thing again, but brought up an insanely instant bluescreen again.

the diskwipe option didnt help either...


i dont know why, but it always seems to happen to anything i do with computers. nothing works with this crap...

any other suggestions?

There are some other suggestions not responded to. Please check them all off and report back results of each so we know what to try next.

go to manufacturer's website.
Fetch,install the latest bios update for your motherboard.
Fetch,install the latest chipset driver for your motherboard.
Fetch, install latest graphics chip driver for your motherboard.

Brand-new boards arrive with out-of-date drivers since marketing has pressured engineering in to releasing the board.

You might be able to insert the AHCI driver in installer at Drive Selection screen to prevent it from blue screening. Normally you would just choose IDE mode but it's worth a try to see if it helps since newer mobos have AHCI support and Win7 might not have a compatible driver in the installer yet.

alright, none of the suggested solutions were unfortunately anywhere near a jackpot.
i'm gonna hand this crap over to the techs at the store and let them deal with it.

Hey riprip .... does your board by any chance have an Intel network controller?
I had a similar issues a while back, but on an Intel S5520 serverboard.
This is what Intel told me, see below ... and it worked.

hi,
what was the problem?

reason for asking is my pc is very unstable (alot of bsod) and i was told that when my windows 7 was installing it also freezed in the installation.

the graphics card was then removed, and only then did windows install correctly.

i as thinking that this might relate to my problem with my bsod's.
