Hi, I have an emachines desktop that came preinstalled with Windows 7. I had to perform a full system recovery to get rid of the system doctor 2014 virus. I purchased the set of recovery discs from acer for my specific machine. All went well with as far as putting in the various discs when asked. The system rebooted and I got the screen that comes up where is shows the programs being installed and the progress bar. Every single time no matter what I do it gets stuck on installing office at the same point. Which says 16 of 24.It will not go past this. If you hold power button down and force restart it comes back on at the same point. Please...any suggestions. Thanks

When I used to install Office 97 it would get to a certain point and then stop. If I waited long enough a message would tell me that it could not read a particular file. I would then get an option to cancel or ignore. I would choose ignore and the program always worked with no problem. I had to wait several minutes before that would pop up. Not sure if this helps you or not.

Thank you for responding. Mine never does that. I have turned monitor off and let it run overnight and it still says the same thing.

Hi there .... You have stated that you have bought Recovery Discs .... This being the case Office would only be a trial version ... Which only lasts for thirty days .. Unless you purchased it ? ...

The Recovery Discs should have installed all programs including Office ... But what i was stating is unless you purchased Office it would only have been a trial which lasts 30 days

If I understand this correctly, using the Acer supplied Recovery disc's does not work correctly.
The problem is the the Acer supplied version of Office will not install using their Recovery disc's.
You can't get past this hung Office install, so you never get into Windows, right?
You could contact Acer support or look on the Acer forum for help with your problem.

Another option you could consider is a clean reinstall of Windows.
With a clean reinstall you would not use the Acer Recovery disc's, and have none of the "Acer bloatware and pre-installed programs".
Read through the tutorial below and see if you're interested in this approach.
It has everything needed including where to get a valid Win 7 ISO for the installation.
You will need a valid Win 7 activation key - it should be on your PC COA sticker.

I use Hybrid sleep, rarely re-boot or shutdown.

Hauppauge HD-PVR, Avermedia PCIe TV Tuner, Hauppauge PCI TV Tuner.
There should also be a recovery partition on the HD so you can recover to factory condition without the disc's.
I don't know if you know about this, have tried it, or it is now corrupt on your PC.
The emachine manual I looked at said to hit Alt+F10 during PC startup to use this option.
I don't know your emachine model, so there may be a different key for your model.
