Windows 7 Home Premium Installation SP1 Fails Error Code:8024200D

Following the Windows Update Posting Instructions I have met a difficulty in that I see the maximum zip file upload is limited to 8MB. My CBS.zip file is 27.2MB and I would appreciate advice of any steps I should take before proceeding further.

I have installed the System Update Readiness Tool and the installation of KB976932 fails with the display of error code: 8024200D.

Yes I have -several times! In my op I wrote:

I have installed the System Update Readiness Tool and the installation of KB976932 fails

I have also followed up on the link to Windows Update error 8024200d and repeated again the instructions to download and run the System Update Readiness Tool appropriate for my version of Windows 7. Following which I have run the SP1 update for it to fail with the same error yet again.

In the article it states:
If you receive Windows Update error 8024200d, it can mean that an update did not finish downloading or installing. The System Update Readiness Tool for Windows can correct some conditions that cause this error. To use the tool, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Knowledge Base article webpage. In the Information for advanced users section, find the Windows edition and system type of your computer, and then click the link to download the System Update Readiness Tool. To find your edition of Windows, see View your computer information.
2. Run Windows Update again.

As I had already done this several times I again have followed the steps stated without success. In my op the question I asked has not received a response yet. As my CBS.zip file is too large to upload how should I proceed to get assistance in the forum? I am referring to the Windows Update Posting Instructions at:

Fortunately for you, 0x8024200D is a nice simple one to fix! All it requires is that you download the update from the Microsoft Download Centre and install it from there:


Download Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1 (KB976932) from Official Microsoft Download Center


If you are using 32 bit Windows (x86), choose the file: windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe
If you are using 64 bit Windows (x64), choose the file: windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe
