Hello,
I have an HP Envy Touchsmart (m7-j120dx) laptop hat came with Windows 8.1 installed on it. I went through all of the steps to prep the computer so that I could install a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (OEM) that I purchased through Amazon (Tech-Depot).
The installation went fine and I had all of the Windows 7 drivers that I needed. However, when I went to activate Windows 7, I got the following message; "The Windows 7 Home Premium product key you typed is invalid for activation". I then tried to activate it over the phone but the automated system said the same thing. I even went on Microsoft's website, where you can chat with someone or request a call and both pages were not working. I called Amazon and they're going to send me another copy of the same software to replace it.
I was supposed to have this laptop back to the owner by tomorrow morning. Now I've got to call him and let him know otherwise. Has anyone else had this problem? Do you think that Windows 8.1 has anything to do with this or is it just a BAD Product Key?
Below is the report that was requested. Please help! Thanks, Marie
