Hi guys, I've got some issues with Windows 7. A few weeks ago I purchased a new laptop and wanted to install Windows 7 Ultimate x86 on it. Sadly, after few attempts with different DVDs borrowed from different persons, I gave up and installed Windows Vista Ultimate. Yesterday I decided I'd give it another shot, but the same problem occured. Right after it expands files, installs features and updates, Windows 7 has to restart before finishing the instalation. Well, it does restart but stalls at "Starting Windows" and does not pass it. I had the same problems with all Windows 7 dvds, I also tried Windows 7 Home, but still the same. Hope you can help me. Here is my configuration :

Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU T6600 @ 2.20GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.2GHz
Memory: 3066MB RAM
Hard Drive: 320 GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce G210M

Thank you.

Hello SudenUni, welcome to Seven Forums!

It works for quite a few others with similar issues; just be sure if you do use the "clean all" command that you have made backups of anything you don't want to lose as it will over-write everything on the entire Hard Disk Drive (HDD) an give you a clean slate to install to.

If you mean clean, as in you formatted the partition/HDD before install ...

Contrary to popular belief, formatting does not remove any data at all, it just checks for sector errors and marks the space to be over-written as needed, all the data is still there including all the code from previous/failed installation attempts.

Some computers have strange little quirks for installs

Make sure in the Bios setup it is marked as NONE for floppy drive (unless you really have one!) As win7 sometimes takes a long time searching for one that is not there :(

Also temporaryly dis-connect any external USB peripherals that are not needed for the install. You can easily add then later after it is installed. :)

Problem solved !
Let me explain how I solved it, maybe other users will find it helpfull.

First of all, I set SATA Controller to IDE from AHCI in BIOS ( thanks to gregrocker ).
After that, using the Windows 7 setup, I formatted C:\ drive ( the drive where I installed W7 ).
Thats about it, now it works fortunately and I hope I wont have problems with it.

Thank you guys extremely much !
