Windows 7 installed - used and shut down, now install?

Hey I just got the windows 7 rc today. I created a virtual pc for it using virtual pc 2007 and it all worked fine. I then shut windows 7 down using the "shut down" option in the start menu on windows 7. I then tried to boot it up later and it wants me to install it again. My files in the virtual folder are there: Windows 7 (virtual machine settings file) and the hard disk. I dont know whats wrong and what to do. Should I install it again or am I doing something wrong?

well I just did a system restore and im having the same problem.

i might just delete it all and start over.. right now though its off to bed. Hopefully somebody here knows how to fix my problem..

Which edition of XP are you running there? Home or Pro? According to the system requirements XP Home isn't on the list of supported versions while XP Tablet PC is.

Another item of concern is the hardware factor of whether or not your cpu supports virtualization. If not that would explain immediate problems. And by the way welcome to the sevenforums!

Im running windows xp media edition with an intel core 2 duo processor with 1.99 GB of ram. Ive assigned windows 7 1.2gb of that ram.

That shouldn't hurt anything since the memory requirement on XP is less then 512mb depending on how much you have loading in XP itself. You may want to disable a few items in the startup tab of the msconfig utility to make sure there's some extra just the same.

With a number of things loaded up on 7 and going to use the XP mode feature things can bog down a bit if 7 is loaded up with several gadgets at the moment or something else causing one or the other if not both to lag a bit.

(talk about lags it took over 8hrs. to see Vista installed on the Virtual PC on the 322bit RC there with updates! :shock

I just deleted all my windows 7 files an am starting again. I read somewhere that I should tell virtual pc im installing vista so I tried that this time.

I just reinstalled seven so its fine now.

That often helps if you end up with a bad install at the start. Once you've been running 7 for a good period of time you'll likely be seeing another as well. Only when that time comes you'll be replacing XP!

Its doing it AGAIN!!! I just reinstalled it yesterday, used it all day, turned it off for the night and now I have to reinstall? I had it all setup, I installed google chrome, avg free 8.5, windows live messenger and mail, some corel word processing programs, and it wants me to reinstall windows 7 again?!

actuallyI think i just fixed my problem, I released the iso image, which I hadnt done before. Now im just gonna have to wait and see...
