:confused:This is my first post so forgive any mistakes ! Is anyone else having problems with 7 and Kaspersky ??
I installed Internet Security 2010, downloaded all the updates and was amazed at how it slowed my pc at bootup, finds multiple viruses and trojans and is always telling me "databases are out of date". Have scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials and Malewarebytes and they find nothing. Have tried to contact Kaspersky and hit a brick wall.
Dont think this version is 100% compatible with 7 !! Any thoughts ?

it is compatible....

how it slowed my pc at bootup and is always telling me "databases are out of date"
slowed up booting/datebase corrupted or out of date errors are there(albeit few in proportion) ...a check at kis forums will confirm this :p the solution rolled out is repair install eggh..

scanned with Microsoft Security Essentials

hi....if you are running both mse and kaspersky together ...unistall mse and use KIS 2010 alone...kaspersky is kind of notorious with what it runs along with and they are only a select few:p

Have tried to contact Kaspersky and hit a brick wall.
ummm...have you tried their forum....they are quick to respond

thanks for suggestions

Tried re-install KIS 2010 on its own, still got very slow boot and disappointing perforfmance, even with new ssd hard drive.
Have removed KIS and installed Microsoft Security Essentials with Malewarebytes, both scanned clean, rebooted, and full speed restored (24secs boot).
Looks like I could have saved myself £26 !!!:D:sick:. Thanks all.

This is strange, First time I hear about a KIS problem with Win7. There must be another problem. MSE is ok, but KIS would be better. If I were you, I would talk to the people on the KIS forum. Maybe they have a clue.

Me too

I am having the same issue. Here's what I know so far:
It's the SSD that's probably causing the problem. (I have a 128 meg G.Skill Titan which has a pair of the JMicron controllers which are causing the problem).

Apparently, a generation of SSD drives uses a controller which lags the computer when writing a ton of small files. Kaspersky seems to have a lot of file writes both to its cache and also to the log. While this wouldn't even be noticeable to a hard drive, it seems to lag on a SSD because of the wear leveling tech in the controller.

My computer often isn't even responsive for several minutes after booting. Delete Kaspersky and my desktop is ready in about 44 seconds. With it, it's over 5 minutes, most of that time looks like everything is fine.

Get a drive monitor program (I use procmon) and check out how much Kaspersky is writing to your drive.

I still don't have a fix for this yet, but thought I would continue the thread.:zip:

Sorry for delay in answering

Have not reinstalled KIS, finding MSE adequate with Malwarebytes as back-up, internet connection is ethernet (no wifi), SSD is G2 Kingston with, I believe, Toshiba bits inside. Maybe I should have given KIS a third chance, but I ran out of patience. PC still very quick !!
Thanks for all response.

i have been a kaspersky user for atleast 5 years now and i never had any problems with it. i tried paid version of avast, avg, norton and trend micro before but none could compare to kaspersky.. it is not that a resource hog as one may think.. basically, the computer i am using right now is almost 3 years old and 3 versions of kaspersky have already been installed (kaspersky 2008, 2009 and 2010) and for me, it was and never will be (i think) a resource hog.. norton and trend micro hogs more resource compared to kaspersky.. regarding your problem, i think it might be an installation problem.. some files might be corrupted or something.. have you tried uninstalling the program, restart in safe mode with networking, install the program, download the updates and scan your pc.. hopefully, all evil will be cleansed by then .. this might not work but i have tried this still many time on my friend's pcs and it worked well.. good luck mate!

Patience is a virtue.

Did a complete reinstall of Windows 7 then reinstalled KIS, my pc was definitley slower than it should be. I have had KIS with XP Pro, no problems. Maybe the problem is not with KIS but with my lack of patience !!
Just as a matter of interest, I bought KIS from Tesco supermarket in UK on offer with Utilities program thrown in free, that did not work with 7 either !!!!!!!!
Regards.

Strange indeed. I think I'm going to reformat my PC and re-install KIS '10 on the new install. I just don't like how it slowed down my boot as well. Hope it's going to be a little bit better on the new install. One thing I can tell you is that I will never go back to Norton. They make the slowest package known to man.
