I have a windows 7 64bit HP laptop computer. All updated via windows update. I've been having this problem for awhile but it's becoming more problematic recently.
Every now and then while browsing the internet my internet will go off. I notice in the bottom right hand corner there is a yellow explanation icon on the networking icon. If I wait it will come back on itself. Sometime I have to diagnose the connection. Sometimes it will repair the problem sometimes it says there is a problem with the router. More and more it has been doing and it's starting to get really annoying. I've noticed when it goes out that it's the only computer on the network that is losing internet. I have 1 wired desktops, 1 wireless desktop, 2 wireless laptops, 1 iPod Touch, 1 Kindle Fire. Every other device doesn't lose internet but it's always this particular laptop that it happens to occasionally. I've tried searching from device manager for an updated driver but it says I have the current one. I've tried turning off the network to the laptop with the hotkey on the keyboard and then turning it back on to reconnect. I've looked in windows update for an update. I've ran antivirus, spyware and all that. Nothing is wrong except the fact it keeps dropping the internet and reconnecting and I don't know what else to do anymore. If you need anymore information let me know. Thanks for reading.

Find the program called hp support assistant, open it and see if you can find any updates with it. If your computer is missing it, here is the link : HP - United States | HP Support Assistant
Please give feedback with how this goes. :)

I'm assuming it has a Wireless N card in it? Where is this laptop usually, when it loses network connectivity, in relation to your wireless router......across the room, upstairs, basement, etc?

Ok to Skylais. I went to directly to the HP website and downloaded the drivers for my card but it said it was already running the current driver. As for using the HP Support Assistant...I opened the program clicked get assistant and ran some diagnostic thing. This is the only thing I was able to find that connected to the HP server and downloaded updates. As far as that went it has been stuck on Downloading updates since last night and still stuck there now.

To kbrady1979. I have the wireless router in my bedroom and I have 1 wired computer in the bedroom next door and all other wireless devices down the hall in my living room. No other devices that are in the same room and same distance from the router seem to be having a problem. Only mine. Sometimes I can go weeks and not have a problem and sometimes I'll be having problems all day long. But only my laptop not the other devices. I too think it's a driver issue or whatever maybe the card is going out I don't know I didn't install it. It came from the factory. But the driver is current so I don't know.

Hi try uninstalling the hp support assistant from control panel then rebooting. After install the latest version from here : http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/us/en...ant.html?jumpid=ex_r602_go/hpsupportassistant
The only reason i want to get the updates from there, is because it may have an update for something causing the wireless card or device to malfunction. Either way let's see what it can find. Thanks for your willing cooperation, as i understand this can be or may be slow and frustrating.

Thank you Skylais. Uninstalling and reinstalling support assistant did work. But it said everything passed and didn't download anything new. So I'm still stuck on my internet disconnecting issue. I haven't had a problem today but I know it's going to happen again.

Ok this is swell, means all drivers and bios should be up to date. Well hopefully the correct ones. Anyhow could you upload a zip file of your system info, drivers list, and have any bsod come along?
If you need help with the sysinfo and drivers list, use the attached tool. Then upload it in your next post. Just press grab all, and be a bit patient.
Also open " device manager " and under network adapters, if there is Microsoft WIFI miniport adaptor right click and disable it. It sometimes causes issues.
And just to ask have you ever used a proxy server?

I have Microsoft Virtual WIFI Miniport Adapter and Microsoft Virtual WIFI Miniport Adaper #2. I've disabled them both. When I did I got a message from Intel My Wifi Technology saying disabled adapter not found.

As for the other things you request I will get to it in my next post. Thank you

Sorry 2xg your not invisible. I just don't feel there is a signal issue or interference when as I stated there are multiple wireless devices in the same room and neither of those are having problems.

Sorry I haven't gotten any other data as of yet. Been busy

IMO, Windows 7 wireless driver are very particular about having a clear channel to operate on, other devices can more easily operate on a crowded channel. The virtual mini port can also cause problems but you would normally get the Unidentified Network message with no connection at all when they are causing the problem.

In fact, as 2xg has already pointed out, the most likely problem is interference on which ever channel the wireless is broadcasting on. The type of security and encryption are also important.

This has already proven to be true on many occasions. ;)
