Hi,

I have a user who has been upgraded from XP to 7 via a new machine. She use to use Microsoft Scanner and camera wizard when she plugged in her iphone. This enabled her to select which pictures she could copy to the machine via a simple tick box. Is this option available in windows 7 ?

Thanks

Hi markiejd15 you might need to install itunes for the system to recognize the iphone.

When you plug in the iphone you should get a window popup that is very similar to the window that opens up when you put in a USB thumb drive. This will let import the pictures or navigate to the DCIM folder on the iPhone and copy the files to your computer.

Thanks all I am trying to find out is whether the microsoft scanner and camera wizard is available in windows 7. She doesnt want to go through the DCIM folder on the iPhone and copy the files to your computer.

If she has to however then so be it. Is the above option no longer available.

Thanks

Like i said in my post it does give you the option to import (like the old scanner and camera wizard) AND it gives you the option to fide the files in the DCIM folder.

I just plugged mine in to check :)

There is no tick options available then or select all etc. I know you can do it via keyboard shortcuts but thats all we have. It is just the users doesnt like change !

If you look at the picture i posted above you will see all you need to do is

-plug in your iphone
-when the window opens up click import 'pictures and video'

Then it imports then pictures to your pictures folder. Its just as easy as the old method.

I cant remember but you may have to install itunes first which installs the iphones drivers.

I see that under the old way you use to click on next to the microsoft scanner and camera wizard and then could tick the pics you wanted without importing anything ? Then once selected it would just import say 5 ticked pics ?

Well after you click next on that second window you have the option of choosing which pictures to impor bu checking the ones you want

Of course the experience isnt 'exactly' the same but its pretty much the same sequence of option but displayed slightly differently. Its a small learning curve but one that should be rewarding with some of the extra features of windows 7 :)

I hope this helps you and your client.

Yes i had to click import all the first time, so i started importing then after it had imported a few i clicked cancel.

The second time i plugged it in it gave me the options to choose which ones i wanted to import by clicking the 'review organize and group' option.

I personally feel that, compared to XP's Scanner and Camera Wizard, Win 7's is clunky, awkward, and not nearly as capable; it is one of the two major things I do not like about Win 7 (although, overall, I like Win 7 better than XP). I've resorted to using Irfanview to download and batch rename my photos, same as I was easily able to do in XP's wizard.

The other major thing I dislike about Win 7, ironically, is its picture viewer. I had problems with it vertically compressing many of my pictures, rendering them unusable. The easy fix was to switch my graphics associations to Office Picture Manager.
