Windows (7) not allowing me to click "Control Panel"

As the title says, windows is for some reason not allowing me to click on "control panel" on the icon from "home".

I have a windows 7 and if im requested to use malwarebytes, please note it is expired. Thank you.

Uninstall the current installed malwarebytes, download and run the latest free version of malwarebytes.

Yes it does redirect me, but is there a way to fix this issue?

If not, how can this be caused?

Hint: When you download and start, you don't have to enable the deluxe Malwarebytes. The basic one does the job fine. Just remember to click at the end of the scan to quarantine all that it finds.

Another method is just to hit the start button and start typing "Control Panel". This will cause a list of programs and files to appear, the top-most of which should be the Control Panel. Then, just click. I use this method a lot around here as most of the new systems I deal with have Win 8, and this is the easiest way to get there.

Okay, try this: Hit the Windows key and begin typing "Control Panel". When the list of Programs/Documents comes up, drag the control panel shortcut out to your desktop. See if the resulting shortcut takes you where you need to be.

If it does, then I would try to move this shortcut back onto the start menu, and test again.

It may just end up being a problem with the old shortcut's properties. It may no longer point to the right place, the right way, with the right parameters, etc...

The shortcut works and i've pinned it to the start menu. However when i click the "Control Panel" button on the right it still doesn't open.

How is it setup in Start Menu, Properties?



If it's as I show, change it to Display as menu then click OK.
Go back and click Display as link and click OK.

See if that helps.

How do i access that menu? The one your showing me in the attached image?

Nope, i did it and it didn't do anything. If you would like, i can record a video of the problem to better assist you.

currently using it. I will respond back if the problem has been solved or for anything further.

Unfortunately it didn't resolve the problem. I might as well format my computer because the OS is horrible currently.
