It worked fine for almost a year then started the ,"copy is not authentic windows." Here is the report from the program I got here; Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):

The installation of Windows is counterfeit - and the installation of Office is a Volume Licensed version commonly counterfeited.

The machine is only licensed for Windows Vista - not for Windows 7 - unless you have purchased an Upgrade to Windows 7.

The COA sticker should tell you for which version of Windows the machine is licensed - but I suspect that although the Key is perfectly legible, the version and edition of Windows will have been erased.

Obviously, after a year, it's a little difficult to return the machine for a refund :(

I do however recommend reporting your vendor to MS and the local trading standards people - and possibly the FBI (they have jurisdiction over counterfeit software)

Options:
1) contact the manufacturer and order a set of Recovery media for the machine - which will be Vista
2) Purchase a new Full License for Windows 7 and clean install that
3) Assuming the COA sticker exists - purchase an Upgrade to Windows 7, and use that for a clean install
4) See if the machine will upgrade to Windows 8 and go direct to that, if you fancy the idea. Note you will probably have to use a Full license for this, as the workarounds that work for Win7 no longer work for Win7.
