Windows 7 on New Machine

I bought a copy of windows 7, and installed it on my laptop, i have since had to reformat my laptop. Does this make the licence no longer valid, since i reformatted with vista, cause of the recovery partion

Am i able to use the copy of windows 7 and its licence on another computer?

If its a retail licence, then yes, you can install it one another system as long as it has been uninstalled from the first computer.

Why not wipe the HD of the crappy factory preinstalled Vista and do a perfect Clean Reinstall using the retail copy on the laptop ?
