Well after 2 & 1/2 half days of hibernating in my Computer Science Lab, I have some results to post.
Since most of you young wippersnappers keep advising on Clean Installs. I said " Doc " believes in a true testing challenge. So I set up my Dual Intel Pent II 400mhz and my Intel Pent III 600mhz side by side on my workbench. I used my Official TechNet RTM x86 Ultimate DownLoads to do the updating on each " Dinosaur " The Tutorials on the USB Flash drive installs worked well, except I had to boot from within Win7, as the MB did not support booting from USB drives. I did have to first upgrade the Pent-III 600mhz to Build 7229 with a DVD install as it was originally running old Build 7127 I used an external LG DVD USB Lightscribe drive to do the first upgrade. Since these are Moldy Oldie computers, mainly for experimenting with Win_7, I only have AVG Antivirus & a few gadgets installed on them. The UpGrade went very well on both with NO errors in Device Manager.
I tested them both by logging in to SevenForums & viewing the latest posts on the SevenForums Gadget.
I did not activate these with my TechNet Keys, yet as I probably will not keep them running as everyday working computers. Save the Keys for the Good ones
" Doc "

You should be fine...I have just finished installing Ultimate onto our Asus Laptop which is a 1.4dhz Celeron with 1 gb Ram (shared graphics) and 160 gb hdd (new).
I had to use Drivermax to get a graphics driver installed so it would work with an external monitor...but other than that it runs as well as or better than XP (IMHO) on that machine.
DocBrown,
How did you ran the install on such an old computers?
I can't run it on celeron 2.0ghz compurer because my motherboars is old and doesn't support the needed ACPI and i receive and error saying that I don't have an ACPI-compliant motherboard and the setup exits...
Can you plese explain me how can i install it on my computer?
Yep, that has been my problem on several oldies, also. You have to have a MB & bios that is ACPI compliant. Sometimes a bios upgrade works, if you can find one for your MB. I have spent hours & hours of testing, & playing with all the different settings in the bios, till I find a combo that works.

Just thought I would give it a try and what do you know. It is snappier than XP Pro on this machine. I am definitely impressed. No AERO of course but you cant have everything. Actually surprised by the HDD score, not much surprised by any of the other scores. This is with 802.11 wireless mini card and Avast running also.
Dell Latitude C600
P-3 @1.0 Ghz / 700 MHz (on battery power)
512 ram pc133
60 gb HDD
Update: No running activated Win7 Home Premium RTM
Using "True Transparency" to achieve sudo AREO effect (8mb ATi Rage Mobility 128 AGP 2X ). As you can see it does not effect the task bar but does work on all the app windows.

Based on my install on C600 (Posted above) I'm sure it will work just fine. Let us know how it goes. Can you say 1.0 WEI

I am not sure if this works with RTM but I am going to give it a shot on the Laptop...just so I can have something a little more than Windows Basic. UNAWAVE - Windows 7 Basic Theme transparent

I have a patch that can make your windows 7 homepremium, Bussiness and Home basic to Run Windows Dreamscens. I have not tested It because I am using Ultimate ATM. So if anyone is interested to test the patch shoot me an PM.

I have a Dell D600 and I installed win7 on it. It works fine and fast, except for the internet. I have mobile internet, using a Huawei E870 express card (with PCMCIA adapter). I have tried updating drivers and it does recognise the data card but it will not connect to the internet. In Device Manager, the PCI Modem comes up with an exclamation mark, but update driver will give me no result.
Anyone have any ideas?
In plain English please, I'm no whizz.

Yep, tried that. The error message I get is : Get Profile Failed. This is with my Vodafone Mobile Connect Lite v9.4 software. Somebody suggested I try Mobile Partner. I did. There I get Error 777. Basically the same thing, I guess.
