Windows 7 Pro 64 bit activation problem

My registry, services, user profiles & the group policy settings were all screwed up (Ashampoo Optimizer), so I searched online until I found a article detailing how to do an upgrade install using the same edition of Windows. I got the software from MSDNAA when I was in the PC support program in college (the program has two install choices-upgrade or custom). The author said that the original system settings would be restored, so of course I went for it!
Everything went well until I entered my product key which had always worked before (I usually did custom installs). This time, I got an error code: 0xC004C020. I've installed this OS in 4 PCs without any problems--why do I have problems now?
What did I do wrong, & how do I rectify it?

First mistake was installing windows on 4 pcs and activating it . You could only install windows 7 on other pcs if you have the family pack .

Run the tool below .

Please download MGADiag and save it to your desktop.

Like I said, I haven't had any problems until now-when I did an upgrade install rather than a custom install.

Yes I have . You probably exceeded the amount of times you could use the key . Did you try calling Microsoft ?

They may have decided to invalidate that key.

Apparently, I have a volume license. I found the worldwide activation centers, & since I'm an "existing customer', maybe I'll be able to get this OS activated today.

I've learned that if I call the Microsoft Activation number for the U.S., they will extend (or at least activate this OS) the number of times that I can install this program.
