Odd - exactly the same errors appear
Lemme check my end...

Nope - the file I uploaded doesn't have those errors any more.
Are you sure the delete/copy commands ran properly?

I've uploaded a file - n2cac.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive

Please download and save it to your desktop.

Right-click on the file and select Extract All, andsave to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the followingcommands.

Code:
IF EXIST C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.OLD1 DEL C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS.OLD1
REN C:\Windows\System32\config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.OLD1
COPY"%userprofile%\desktop\n2cac\COMPONENTS" C:\Windows\System32\config

.

If you get an error with either command, STOP THERE -do not reboot! - post for instructions.

Assuming both commands go OK, reboot, and run anotherCheckSUR scan - post the new CheckSUR.log file.

I think I found the problem - there were a couple of bitflips that didn't show up in any of the scanners, but did actually show up in the CBS log
I think I fixed them now...

We're slowly getting rid of the corruption...
the error is tripping at a different place each time - eventually we'll have it sorted (assuming that this is the only affected hive!)

I've uploaded a file - n2cae.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive

Please download and save it to your desktop.

Right-click on the file and select Extract All, and save to the default destination (which should be a folder on the desktop)

Create a new System Restore point
Open an Elevated Command Prompt, and run the following commands.

Still the same error - please run SFC /SCANNOW, and post the new CBS.log - then upload the COMPONENTS file again so I can make sure I'm still working on the same errors as you.

I tried to run the SCANNOW but got the error below. I did re-run the SURlog checker and have included the CBS logs files and the components file in the zipped folder.

The COMPONENTS file is the default one (created by the system when then proper one doesn't exist) - it seems that the last copy command failed.

Open an Elevated Command Prompt and run the following commands

COPY "%userprofile%\desktop\n2cae\COMPONENTS" C:\Windows\System32\config
DIR C:\Windows\System32\config\COMP*.*

Post the results, then run SFC /SCANNOW again, and post the new CBS.log file

The copy failed. Here is the cmd output: (I think SYSTEM has it opened. I also tried rebooting, but got the same result. I checked the processes list, but nothing seemed obvious to stop.) Sorry.

Do you think I could boot into SAFE MODE and copy the COMPONENTS file into the correct folder and then restart Windows normally would work? Just thinking.

OK - I'm seeing different errors in the logs to what I can find in my copy of the COMPONENTS file - which either means that I'm looking in the wrong place, or you still have other problems.
Please upload your COMPONENTS file again, and I'll see if I can find the errors there.

Here is the link to the COMPONENTS file in DropBox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/4p14l2yrnrgdtac/COMPONENTS?dl=0

Also, we have had some success! When I went to copy the components file, it was locked by SYSTEM, so I went to restart in to SAFE MODE and saw where 48 Windows updates were ready to be downloaded & installed. So I went ahead an did that. All the updates got installed except one. I have attached a WORD document with the screen shot of that failed update.

After the update is when I got a copy of the COMPONENTS file you have the link to.

I will assume this is good news?
