I know that this issue has been posted a dozen times on this forum and I've looked through them but to no avail. At work I have a Dell Precision T5610 workstation that I received from my employer but not through IT. Which is weird. IT only officially handles our laptops. The workstation I received was straight from the Dell factory. There was an issue with that installation of windows where my HDD usage was 100% almost all the time, making it impossible to use the computer without suffering from excruciating lag. I was worried it was a piece of Dell software causing the issue. So I used Belarc to get my Windows 7 key. And did a completely fresh windows 7 installation (not using the dell recovery partition). I've never had an OEM copy of windows before and was unaware of the COA weirdness associated with such a key.
I've been putting off the windows activation stuff but today started getting the popup saying my copy might not be genuine. The key that I got using Belarc doesn't work (which I now know is to be expected...) and the workstation itself doesn't appear to have the COA sticker that I guess i need to activate. I do still have the Recovery partition, but I REALLY don't want to start with completely fresh Windows again. Does anyone have any advice on what (if anything) I can do to get Windows activated without reinstalling from the recovery partition? And if not, how do I actually go about doing such a recovery? I've attached the WGADiag thing in case it helps.
