Hello

Some days ago, i wanted to borrow my laptop to my friend, so for security purpose i right clicked on each drive and on Properties \ Security \ Group or user names \ Edit and i checked "deny" box for all items for the users. it worked fine and ll drives were locked.

Now, i want to regain access to my files and folders but i have some issues.
i went back the above procedure and checked the "allow" box. It gave me access to open drives and folders but i can't open any file!?
It seems like i have restricted myself and i can't get out of it :(

I also tried below procedure:
right click on drive \ properties \ security \ Advances \ Owner \ Edit \ Administrator (Replace owner on subcontainers and objects)

it didn't help

Note: my user is Administrator
I Use Win 7 Pro 32 bit

i really appreciate any comment

Thanks

When changing permissions, only do so for Groups and specially the User's group. Right click on the "Computer" icon and choose "manage". Then go to "Local users and groups", then "users". Look for the default Administrator account, the original and turn it on if it is off. Log in as that account and set permissions again.

Open up an elevated Command Prompt. Click on :orb: type CMD inside the Search programs and files box. When CMD comes up under Programs (1) right click and choose Run as administrator. On the User Access Control window click on the Yes button or you could press Alt+Y on your keyboard ( does the same thing ) . Once Command Prompt opens up it will open to path C:\Windows\System32>_ .

Type the command below and press Enter. ( it will take a few mins to complete )

secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb /verbose

Restart PC when done .

See if you could open any files.

To Copy the Command:

:ar: Highlight the command . Left click on the mouse and drag your mouse to the end of the command . Right click with your mouse and choose Copy or press Ctrl+C on your keyboard .

To Paste inside Command Prompt:

:ar: Right click inside the command prompt and choose Paste.

   Note
Do not use Ctrl+V that will only generate " ^V "
