Windows 7 pro updates

Hello Forum
After big disaster with previous XP system - it became corrupt after Auto updates installations, I made a list of updates for my windows 7 system and started to download them one by one all of them.
Then while being off line I started to install one at a time (by double click on the file), first there poped up a box "searching for updates...." for a long time, then installation started (also a long while), at the end I got a message update could not be installed. Tried another one, the same results.
Until now, I managed to install only one !
First, how to stop the long search for installed updates ?
Second, I still want to install them one by one - so if something goes wrong I can uninstall that update.
And I read about the 'System readiness tool", I downloaded it, but shell I install and run it or just install ?
As mentioned above, OS is Window 7 pro 32 bit.
Answers will be appreciated.

Win 7 Update

Following my first thread, each time I get a notice there are 139 new updates, (after downloading all the update files) I checked only one from the list, and then it says "starting to download..." and it never stops,(even I have good download speed) have to stop it manually. The same when I click on one of the files on the computer, it still check for updates... and never stops. I ran some fixing tool "KB3102810-x86" (it was easy to install for a change), rebooted and started the whole process again but same results, searching never stops. Seems I will stay un-updated until some fix to this problem, as I learned from reading I am not alone.
Unless you found something to give me a solution.

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
Not sure why you would install 1 update at a time on a clean install that would literally take a week to do it

I would how ever only focus on Important updates and load them all possibly without kb3112343
But first get you update settings in order so all you see in the Important section is really Important updates and not Recommended updates in there too
Use these windows update settings.

Thanks for the answer. The Windows update is set as on the answer. However, before making something I may be sorry later, I managed to install only 5 updates; 4 manually and 1 by the updater, but first I would like to show you some screenshot of folders created today, its a big list, I opened some and found familiar numbers look like updates, but only 5 made by me today, I looked into the updates history - found only two recently installed, all the others are year 2014.
Now I have some questions: Since only 5 updates installed today (26-12-2015), what created the rest of them ? and since it uses space on the disk (one update even created a restore point), can I delete all those folders ?
Enclosed a screenshot of created folders today, some are opened to show the content.
Answers will be much appreciated.

I also don't know what all those locked folders are.
Then again I have lot of locked folders on my systems that I have no idea what they are.
Windows 7 has many things that I don't know what they are.
I would suggest doing as I do. Leave them alone. Windows 7 locked them for a reason.

Windows 7 will create at times Restore points when installing Windows 7 Updates. That is normal.

I would also suggest just installing all the updates and sort out the KB's you don't want later.
I install Windows 7 Update after a Clean Install in groups of 10 or 20 at a time and then reboot. Do another 10 or 20 and reboot, and so on.

Once I just checked all of them and installed and rebooted a couple of times and things worked okay.
Then I search out the ones I didn't want and removed them.
Rebooted and checked for updates again. If any of the removed KB's came back I just right tick on them and select Hide.

In about a week of the system working normal I use Disk Clean or Disk Clean Extended. (You can find them in our tutorials).
Check for Windows Updates again making sure none of the unwanted KB's get installed.

When all this is done and you are using a hard drive for Windows 7 I recommend using Windows 7 built in defgrag program. You will most likely find a lot of fragmentation.

Maintenance - Cleaning up

Thanks for the answers.
First - Windows updates started working, very slowly, but two or three at a time.
Second - About the screenshot I sent, showing folders with very long names, they are located in the system "C" disk, and its growing bigger, they are not in the winsxs folder. After a day or two if everything goes fine with this machine I'm going to delete some and see what happens - it uses a lot of disk space, not to mention a lot of restore points created by the updates.

Hi,
If you want to remove updates do it with disk cleanup and not just deleting without knowing what will happen later
Click start and type in the search box
disk cleanup
Hit the enter key or click on the suggestion,
Once windows evaluates the disk check all the boxes,
Then click on cleanup system files

Once again windows will evaluate and then click on More options on the top and remove all but the latest restore points,
Go back to the system cleanup section and check all those boxes,
Lastly click on Okay and confirm deletion

Restart your computer.

Wow! I have nothing like that on my system. There are four files on the "C" drive with long random letter/number names, but they are all from 10/19/2013 and each one is about 2-3KB. Any other folders named like that format are in the WINSXS folder, which is now over 16GB and over 71K files. Really curious as to why they are occurring on your system. Just trying to learn here.
