Solved Windows 7 professional 64 Bit NO DRIVERS AT ALL!

P.S. Which one should I download? With or without SP1? There seems to be 2 variants of the 64 bit W7Pro (english). I think mine was Service Pack 1. I remember filling out the system specs thing for this forum, we can see on under my avatar that it was SP 1.

Does that make a difference?
If you're certain it was SP1, then you should go ahead with that. :)

If not, can you check your COA sticker again and see if it's saying something like X15-65805 or X17-59186 (or anything similar you can find) and post it?

Hello,
I had the same issue, and first i tried the N version, which didnt activate (Professional N x64 English - X17-59337.iso)
Today i downloaded without-N version, which activated ok. I have the same number as you (X16-96076) on my sticker and this DVD worked: X17-24281
So you may want to download X17-24281 from DigitalRiver torrents (quoted link doesn't work anymore) for best chances.

Thanks. I am downloading just that. About the bootable iso, do I need a 4 gb pen drive? Everyone keeps talking about how the pen drive must be at least 4 gb. Mine says it is 4 gb but when I connect it to my PC, it shows 3.73/3.74 GB space available.

You can just burn the ISO to a DVD because it's already bootable. That's how I usually do my Windows installs.
Other members will be able to help you better with the bootable flashdrive install if that's your preferred method. :)

You download the iso with Service Pack 1, if not you`ll have to install SP1 through windows update, now why would you want to do that ???

The pen drive you have should work fine, use Wintobootic, it works great.

But you should also create a dvd.

Didn't know that SP1 was a free upgrade for the regular version. Yeah, it'd be super frustrating, especially when your internet speed is that low, to not get the SP1.

The pen drive you have should work fine, use Wintobootic, it works great.

But you should also create a dvd.

Just in case?

Update:

I used the WiNToBootic software and did manage to burn the ISO onto the flash drive. The only problem is that the software says that it took it 0 time to do the job. That isn't true! It took it about 10 mins.

So were you able to successfully install a genuine Win7?

No. My Laptop has 4 USB ports, 2 USB 3.0, one USB 2.0 and one USB/eSata. It only detects the pen drive when connected to the USB/eSata drive. I tried that for booting. However, it only stayed at a blank black screen for a really long time. Tried twice. Didn't work.

As we speak, I am burning that ISO onto a DVD. As soon as that is done, I will attempt again and report back. :)

UPDATE:

Windows said that my Product Key is invalid and gave me the option to either buy new license or try phone activation. I tried phone activation. It was really straight forward and my windows is now activated.

YAY :D

I am now downloading the drivers and everything.

Thank you very much to all the members here who helped me out. Especially Kathy and AddRam. Let me mark this thread solved.

I have no idea why it won`t install to a 2.0 slot, I`ve heard that they now sell 3.0 usb sticks, is yours one ?

The plot thickens

Nah! Mine is USB 2.0. In my post about the bootable USB, I did mention the strange fact that the software said that it took it only 0:00 time to write the thing. What if that indicates that the software had no idea what it had done. :P

P.S. Still downloading and installing updates/programs.

P.P.S. I checked reviews online and read that MSE is the worst anti-virus of all the free legit ones.

I can understand that everyone will have their bias. However, something that gets ranked as the worst one cannot be better than AVG. Let me read up more and see if there have been updates. I've also read the MSE is less resource hungry, which is a BIG plus as long as it at least works. MalwareBytes have been my best buddy since I discovered it years ago.

MSE and MBAM have been good buddies together for me. MBAM catches what MSE misses. It's usually not advised to have 2 anti-malware software but MSE makes little footprint which I do like.

I think the problem with AVG is that its popularity is its own disadvantage. Since malicious attackers know many are using it, attacks are made to circumvent it.

AVG does way too much. It`s absolute garbage.

The thing is, YOU are the best defense against viruses and what not, don`t download garbage and you`ll never have a problem. Use your ISP mail program and you`ll never have a problem.

I`ve been computing since 98 and not once have I ever had a virus or malware or any of that phantom garbage.
