The java website gives a caveat on trying to run java on Windows 7 Pro (64-bit), yet they allow you to download and install it manually. This confuses me. [ I only run Flight Simulator X on this system.]

I'm trying to run it on Firefox 65.0.2, but Java says it has detected that I am running a browser that no longer supports NPAPI. Wonder why they allow the manual download/installation then?

If not Firefox, then who, please?

Any constructive comments would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

I wouldn't install JAVA. Too risky and dangerous.
I got rid of it years ago and never missed it or needed it since...

That's my opinion, you can do what you feel is best if you really need it.

Agreed. Most websites don't need it. Unless you have a special application that uses it then don't install it. Even if you do need it for an application you should disable it on the browser.

I wouldn't install it in 2019. Outmoded and dangerous bit of rubbish.

I'm running Firefox 65.0.2 as well. It runs fine without Java installed.

Haven't run Java in years.

In addition to what I said earlier, any program that requires JAVA must be very old and not worth running..If there is no new version of the program then I would look for an alternative rather than risk using it.

And don't mistake Javascript for Java...Java scripts are pretty safe and still in wide use..
