Windows 7 - Randomly freezing whilst browsing with Firefox?

Windows was regularly freezing my system.
The issue could be solved by rebooting only

1) Windows 7 x64 and drivers: were and still are uptodate
2) SFC /scannow: reported no issues
3) Memtest86: reported no issuess
4) Emsisoft Internet Security/MBAM combo: no malware (even after an extra manual scan)
5) Eventviewer: did not report anything special (no errors or critical events)
In fact uptil 1-2 minutes before the freeze nothing was being logged
6) Repair Windows ? There was nothing to repair...
7) Startup programs: were cutdown to a minimum
8) Performance index: 5.9 (8GB RAM, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Quad-Core 2.83GHz, temperatures of all components are fine)

There are many, many threads about this subject, i.e. Windows 7 freezing, but most of them are about which steps to be taken and usually threads end somewhere, without a solution.

Found out that in my case Windows was freezing whilst browsing with Firefox, along with using other applications.

Now I am not saying the below is final solution, however a -possible- solution may be to turn off GPU hardware acceleration.
Actually, over the last week, I had no freezes anymore...

Hello sfwul mate you didn't mention this so try it

ADW download from bleeping computer delete any rubbish found with the malware scans
(NB If one is running Kaspersky security it may rant about ADW - just ignore it or disable Kaspersky while the ADW is being used)

All was okay, except for "1 unindexed file recovered" - drive c
Didn't do the other other drives though, assuming that the c-drive is the most important one.
No idea what this recovery file means and neither whether it cud lead to a windows freeze.
