MSFT might like to see a leak at this time. It would let them get some unofficial feedback and telemetry before they commit to a public RC without being 'responsible' for it. Then they could 'adjust' dates accordingly, since they have not committed to a date.

Yeah, like the one I just found and reported -- if you move your profile folder, even though you set the music/videos/pictures blessed folder property to another folder, if it's not in \users\ media sharing to the homegroup does not work. Blatant oversight in testing...

What's being mentioned there is not simply the RC now expected by most in so many days but actually seeing 7 out before the year's end just in time for holidays and the busiest shopping season. Just would push it ahead of the January time frame according to that.
