I have a Dell Inspiron M5110, I'm using windows 7 ultimate but the recovery Disk is driving me crazy, it keeps on bringing up the out of space warning and then it will only automatically clean up maximum of 2MB. I have read many forums about this and tried everything but nothing seems to work and keeps on filling up the free space automatically. It's affecting the computer's perfomance, it is stopping the internet pages from uploading properly, I cant chat or sign in to Skype, so basically the computer is useless to me except for intertainment. What can I do to solve this problem, I have run out of Ideas and I'm just an amatuer at computers.

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

It sounds as though you have been using the recovery partition to store files, which is why you're getting this message flagged up.

The recovery partition holds your Dell computer factory restore files and should NOT be used for anything else.

I was going to suggest you have a look inside this partition and move or delete any non-Dell files, but as by your own admission you are not computer-savvy yet, it may be easier for you to carry out a Dell factory restore providing you have created a set of recovery discs.

No actually I haven't been using it to store anything I always select the other discs to store anything I want to store but it still no use and when i try to delete some files that are not Dell the computer won't let me delete them. If you helped with some instructions I can be able to follow them and try to solve the problem because it is driving me crazy. Thank you for your advice let me try again what you have suggested hopefully I can get some luck there. Will get back to you.

In that case, it's quite possible that you've downloaded something and inadvertently saved it to the recovery partition, because it can't just fill up for no reason.

If you have created a set of recovery discs for your computer you could just delete the recovery partition.

Failing that can you open your recovery partition and upload a screenshot of it so we can see what's going on?

Thank you so much I'm gonna try that and if it works I will let you know and do as you asked with the snap shots. Again thank you so much. Something else bothering me but it might be because of the space problem I will report back.

Hi, I'm back. Ok I tried to delete the recovery partion but the option is not even highlighted, and when i click format it tells me that I can't format the disk because it contains the program that my computer is running on. I tried to upload the partition pictures but for some reason it doesn't respond, what can I do. I will be able to follow step too step instructions if it is possible because this problem is affecting everything I try to do on the computer. Please help

Have you made recovery disks?

Why are you trying to delete the recovery partition? It's there for a good purpose.

Yeah I have made the recovery disks. I don't want to delete it but because of the space problem it makes my computer run really slow and then refuse to show some content. What can I do otherwise to improve this?
