Solved Windows 7 screen flickers horizontal lines randomly

I have a windows 7 32 bit. Acer Aspire 5920G.

The screen started flickering about a week ago. It happens randomly. When I use my browser, open documents, run programs or even while on desktop.

I have already looked around on youtube, google and on the forum here. I've tried to change the screen resolution, change text size and adjust the screen refresh rate but it is automatically on 60 hertz and has not other options. None of these options helped.

I have not downloaded any programs recently, meaning I do not think it's because of a software added. I did run CCleaner, Bitdefender antivirus and a spyware/malware check, but to no avail.

It flickers as soon as I adjust the screen manually.

Let me know if I have posted on the wrong thread.

Thanks

Yes, I believe I did that. I ran updates on Bitdefender update, Windows update, NVIDIA update and I even went to Intel driver update and ran the scan they have there.

I might have missed something though as I'm not IT literate, is there anyway I should check to see if all drivers are updated?

Click on your Start Button and type in Device Drivers and hit enter. This will open your Device Drivers. If you see any Exclamation Marks, there is a problem and the Driver needs to be updated.

@ bigmck

The only one that had an exclamation mark was Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface under Network adapters.

I tried to update it, it said it was already up to date. I disabled it and enabled it, but it still had the exclamation mark.

There could be another problem with it besides not being updated. Read this link and do what it says to find out the problem. If it doesn't do anything, check back.

Visit the following link for information regarding Teredo Tunneling Pseudo;

The flickering screen may be related to the refresh rate. Check the monitor manufacturer for the correct setting and then verify it is set properly.

@bigmck I followed the steps on the link you sent, and it seems the driver had a code 10 error. I followed the instructions for how to fix the error and did a reboot. That did not help and I might follow the other steps provided on that link as well, but it seems like you lot agree on Sir Georges suggestion so I'll give that a try and report back. Thanks.

If you were able to click on a Disable, did it do anything?

If you mean the Teredo Tunneling, then yes. I disabled and it now has a black arrow pointing downwards, with a white circle around it.

But I haven't done these two steps yet ;
7. Right click on “6to4 Adapter” and select “Disable”.
8. Right click on the selected network card (Wireless or LAN) that you are working
on and click disable, then re-enable it. This is simply to refresh the card which
can also be done via reboot.

As I don't see the 6to4 Adapter. Should I skip to step 8?

I guess if 6to4 isn't there, you can't do anything to it. Do what you can with the above and see if it helps.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8UdZ0PZm6Q I did as shown on that video to fix the issue with the Teredo Tunneling and it now has no exclamation mark, neither does any of the stuff shown in device manager. They all seem to work now.

But the issue is still here, and now it seems to flicker even at start up( i rebooted). It did not flicker at start up before.

So far i've tried to change to the screen resolution, and screen hertz is on 60 as there are no other options. I changed the text size to 125%(medium), still it did flicker.

I can't see any marks on the screen itself nor have I dropped the laptop in any recent time, if this information is of any help. Starting to get a bit frustrated.

Other suggestions?

I actually visited that site today via searching on google before I made this thread, and followed the steps. It still did not help.

The only thing I didn't do was the last two steps (check the video card, and the check the monitor) because I don't feel comfortable enough in my IT knowledge.

Above you say "screen resolution" but then you say "125%". Did you actually go into your Control Panel and change the resolution? Mine is 1440 X 900. I just want to be sure everything is covered.
