Windows 7 Service Pack 1 won't install (error code: 800B0100)

Hi all,

I'm having trouble trouble installing Windows 7 SP1 64-bit (error code: 800B0100).

I've tested numerous methods to solve the problem (including the steps found in your post instructions) but to no avail.

I've attached the CBS file as requested.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :).

This issue may occur if the Component-Based Servicing (CBS) manifest is corrupted.

Did you try to run SFC /SCANNOW to check for damaged Windows files?

1. Open an elevated command prompt.
2. Run the "sfc /scannow" command.
3. Try to install update again.

I've already run the SFC /SCANNOW once, but I'll run it again now just to be sure.

Edit: Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations...

How come you appear not to have installed Service Pack 1 yet??

I hadn't installed it purely because I'm not that tech savvy and didn't realise it existed. It's only after attempting to download some software that requires it that I've looked into updating to SP1.

I've uploaded a file - b92aa.zip - to my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive
Please download and save it.
Right-click on the downloaded file, and select Extract all…
Extract to the default location - which will create a new folder b92aa in the same place.
Open this folder - there should be two folders inside it (Manifests, and Packages)

Copy the content of the Packages folder to the folder
C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Servicing\Packages

And the content of the manifests folder (.manifest files) into this folder:

C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

Now run the CheckSUR tool again (it may take a while)

Post the new CheckSUR.log file, and the CheckSUR.persist.log file.

Now we need to run SFC /SCANNOW again - if it comes back clear, then try Windows Update again.
