Windows 7 Share Printing - "The Handle Is Invalid"

Hey everyone, this problem really has me stumped. I have two Windows 7 Pro workstations (both 64bit). One has a printer attached, an Okidata ML320 for printing invoice sheets, connected via USB. It is shared to several workstations in the business. A user began having issues sending documents to this printer; attempting to print, they get a dialog box that says "The Handle Is Invalid".

That is all of the error context.

Because the printer is actively in use by others I cannot remove it from the system it is shared on to remove and re-add it. Due to the hardware nature of the printer, I cannot directly connect it to the network (it is a very old 9-pin dot matrix printer with no network ability and no guarantee that a USB-to-Network print service adapter will work, and at any rate I cannot take it out of production to attempt it).

I have removed and re-added the printer before with no luck.

The only things that have changed on the workstation are anti-virus (malwarebytes) definition updates.

Thank you all in advance.

Yours in infinity,

-Gordon Freeman

Hi Gordon Freeman,

Malwarebytes is well known for causing network related problems.

Have you tried un-installing Malwarebytes to see if that fixes the issue?
Is Malwarebytes the Home [FREE] version or Business version?
Have you tried the Malwarebytes Forum => Malwarebytes Forum.

The workstation could possibly need a re-build!

I hope this helps!

Hi,

It is Malwarebytes corporate.

None of the other workstations exhibit this symptom.
