I now use sleep mode rather than shutting down every night. I used to have the same problem as you until i went to my Bios and set it to Wake with a double mouse click . Occasionally it will Wake of its own accord, a couple of minutes after being put into Sleep, but only very rarely.

It was specifically a Dell and Acer problem. I had not heard of it on Toshiba until now. I am an unfortunate Acer owner and I am told there will be no fix for it. Many Tks Acer.

I have same problem, when I put my laptop in sleep mode, it don't return when I press any key (incude Power button).

I think that problem is due Chipset driver. Is it true?

Hi,

Many of these problems can be fixed with the correct (latest) chip set drivers or BIOS build for your system.

With desktop machines there will often be selectable options in the BIOS for the type of Sleep mode This is less likely with the cut down BIOS normal with a laptop but still worth checking.

The power options item in the control panel allows you to set exactly what mode windows attempts to enter on various actions such as closing the lid, for laptops you should also check any software supplied by the manufacture for this purpose

The cause of a lot of issues when Vista shipped was the Hybrid Sleep mode - this may be disabled using the advanced power options

The following tutorial at our sister site Vistax64.com, (all vista users should be a member there ;) ), gives a few suggestions for the sleep mode problems which are still valid with Windows 7.

This problem has a lot of variable and thus may need a little "trial & error" adjustment to setting to find the one that works for you have a look at the tutorial and the follow on links and you should be able to solve most issues
