Windows 7 SP1 RTM due on February 16 for MSDN customers, Feb22 for web

I have SP1 (from last month or so) on my USB Drive. I'm installing it now and my sister accidentally pulled it out while it was Installing. I'm going to reinstall it tonight, but I went through all those steps to have the Cleanest Install possible. Will this mess that up, or will SP1 overwrite the files that were installed in the previous attempt

Is the PC still running, what happened when she removed it?

Have lost where I found the ref to RTW is this imminent? as I seee in Softpedia news that they are going to block it as an upgrade what's this all bout??

The tool I think you are talking about is really meant for businesses to stave off a mass upgrade, it postpones the upgrade for a while.

The public release to Windows Update will be the 22nd Feb and no doubt a standalone download should be announced around the same time or very shortly thereafter.

The SP shouldn't prove a difficult installation but it's usually a good idea to temporarily disable your anti-virus to accommodate it.

Ok Ex-Brit problem is my lappy is set to auto UD and as I work shift work it might be a matter of watching as soon as I boot up. Plus my lappy has that InstalShield thngy on it and I don't want it doing anything without my ok - UAC is set for jst about everything as I am a bit paranoid re dowmloads these days having only ben rying to get a bit more savvy in the last few months.

A bit OT but am just wondering where this InstalShield app came from a I don't remember downloading it!

How about these ...

What's wrong with the window size/position? What's wrong with explorer.exe?

On my PC it randomly (i.e. not every time):

• Scrolls the Navigation Tree selection to the bottom of the screen.
• Forgets to open at full screen despite being set to maximised.

Additional

Just for those that may not know; if you install the SP separately then run the SP 1 removal tool you will not be able to remove the SP if the need arises.

Does it compact the winsxs folder?

Oh and our SP1 update is set for today - 22nd - always behind out here for some reason although I am not going to hold my breath that long lol!!

Hmmmmm don'y like these sorts of third party stuff have had so many screw ups in the past (and formats / reinstalls) due to this kind of thing.
Thing is I don't remember downloading it unless it came in with something else and a local forum guru out here says it's pestilence and stopped short of removing it - just ignore it.
That's hard when the thing keeps popping up everytimeone ants to downlaod say a MBAM update etc. Anyway a bit OT so wmight do a thread if I can't find one!

It should come down through Windows Update for those that did not already install any of the pre-release SP1 builds.

There should also be a standalone SP1 installer available as well, but we will not have the links to that until it's been posted at Microsoft.
