i bought a new laptop toshiba satellite c850..no os was installed in it.i got installed windows 7.but later when i tried to install windows 8,i was unable to install it.then i checked the user manual which came along with the laptop.it said

[when installing an operating system other than microsoft windows vista and windows 7,please follow the steps
1.press power button and the f2 key
2.select advanced(->system configuration)
3.select compatibility mode for SATA controller mode
4.press f10

you will be then able to boot from the ODD.]

i did as it is said...but windows 8 is not booting from the dvd even after i did as it is told.
and when i tried to start windows 7 normally....it is having startup problem...it shows blue screen and shuts off.

so i changed the bios settings to AHCI mode and restarted...windows 7 is running properly...how to make windows 7 run in controlller mode??
