The versions all run the same except for having a few extra features unlocked.

Turn off all Startups in msconfig except for AV and gadgets, run a lightweight AV like free MS Security Essentials with the Win7 firewall. http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1401-startup-programs-change.html

Edit your visual effects as follows:



See how it performs now after a few restarts. If still slow, upgrade RAM to 2gb.

I dont feel it got faster and my pc is with 2 RAM slots so i got only 512 and 1000 ram. If my 512 mb RAM stick isn't there my pc doesn't start at all. Im kinda not rich in my country pc's aren't so cheap and the money here isn't that easy for me to buy a new pc x.x

I'm writing on a ten year old HP business laptop with 1gb RAM and Celeron which never hangs and with 20 second startup for Ultimate. So getting a clean isntall and setting it up correctly matters a lot.

Keep an eye on your Task Manager>Processes for all users to see what is possibly hogging CPU and RAM.

That's pretty incredible, as my Quad core box with 8GB of RAM and an SSD on a clean Win7 install takes 14 seconds.

The explorer takes 18 184 K and the others are around 500 - 1 000 k mostly. Im on a clean pc i just installed Realtek,BoI,AV and the latest graphic drivers +.net framework (its useful somehow)

I've re-installed my pc before few days so i think its clean, i was on windows XP before.

- Hmm i saw the clean windows thread - ill try it, but could i upgrade Home Premium or Professional i saw one thread in a forum that i searched on google, that it says inside home and professional editions are more faster and run better XP programs...?!

Well i see that clean installs on the "Clean install" thread and i think when i installed it i did the same.

Ok i re-intalled it with Windows 7 Home Premium and now im not feeling any lag.Btw.. tkx all ;D
