Windows 7 Ulitmate 64bit SATA problem.

Hello guys!
First off im sorry if im posting a allready existing post, i've searched but i did not find any post with my current problem.

History:
Well yester day i bought my first SATA drive.
one called WDC WD5000AAKS-00WWP. I tried to install it to see if it worked, Well i guess you can figure why im posting here.

Well for starters i want to install windows on the disk, but the problems the bios dont recognize the disk. I can find the disk in the device manager.
I've tried to find a driver or something to flash the bios with, but cant find any for windows 7 64bit and the vista drivers dont work, im out of luck i guess.

So you already have Windows installed on that older hard drive, and when you installed the newer SATA drive and booted up in Windows you couldn't see the drive?

Or you disconnected older hard drive and connected the newer SATA drive and tried to install Windows?

Initialize New Disks

To initialize new disks

1. In Disk Management, right-click the disk you want to initialize, and then click Initialize Disk.
2. In the Initialize Disk dialog box, select the disk(s) to initialize. You can select whether to use the master boot record (MBR) or GUID partition table (GPT) partition style.

Note The disk is initialized as a basic disk.



Additional considerations

• New disks appear as Not Initialized. Before you can use a disk, you must first initialize it. If you start Disk Management after adding a disk, the Initialize Disk Wizard appears so you can initialize the disk.

Thanks so far! yeah ive tried both options and nothing works.
Ive done the guide you posted, and nothing happend exept i can format the disk after i initialized the disk, progress.
Do i have to go by this to even install windows on the disk if i even remove the other disk's?

Nope. Shut down PC. Remove older hard drive, replace with newer hard drive, try a different SATA connection. Turn on PC, boot from Windows 7 DVD, and do a Clean Install.

okey. ive tried to install windows 7 now, several times.
but the installation freezes during the start up, it reboots or bluescreen.

tried 2 dvd's and 2 dvddrives.. got any suggestion?

tried to install on a ide drive now, must be wrong on both dvds

Manage to install windows xp on the disk but win 7 wont work, any idea's why?

Most people don't have two copies of Windows 7 DVD's, and please forgive me but that leads me to believe, you download Windows 7 from somewhere. There are probably tons of versions out there that are BROKEN with cracks and missing parts.

Sorry your having difficulty I would contact Microsoft for a new Install Disk or your supplier.
