Hi, I'm Andrea from Italy and this is my first post here.
Two weeks ago I've (almost) completely changed the PC's hardware configuration and I've installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

My configuration at now is:

MoBo Asus P5QD Turbo
CPU Intel Quad Q9400
8GB Ram
ATI Radeon HD4800 Graphic Card
Sound Balster Audigy 4 Player Audio Card
I've also enabled the AHCI via BIOS

I'm having a serious issue with win 7: it's very very very very slow to startup (with startup I mean the time between the PC power and its complete operativity (O.S. loaded, complete user control avaiable and so on)).
I own an "old" hard disk and I've already purchased a new one and I'm waiting for the delivery but in my opinion the "only" HD isn't the whole cause of this slowness.
I know that the 64 bit versions of Win are quite "sensitive" regarding the drivers so I suspect that the main reason colud be the drivers particulary the Sound Blaster Drivers (downloaded directly from the creative site) My Sound Blaster Audigy Player 4 is "very" old too. I suppose (or I hope because I've spent a lot of money when I bought it a year ago) that the problem could not depend form my graphic card/drivers, HD4800 isn't "old".
My other peripherials are:
- plain scanner Epson Perfection 8400
- Color Laser Printer HP Laserjet 1600
- Aiptek graphic tablet

At now I've installed only the O.S. and Office 2007

Someone have some hint/solution for this problem?
Thanks and regards
Andrea

Uh, interesting question! I've never tried to boot into safe mode. That's a good idea to have proof of drivers issue, isn't it? Isn't there a software running Win 7 64 bit to analyze the startup performances? I remember a software developed by Microsoft for the early version of Win XP...Some other hints?

Thank a lot!!
Andrea
