I have been running the Windows 7 RC trial without any major problems.Recently I was selected to host a Windows 7 launch party.
The party pack arrived and I loaded the Windows 7 Ultimate disc provided.
Since then every time my computer is re booted the internet connection is lost. The only solution I have is to restore start to an earlier time (prior to any Windows updates or programmes added). All the programmes worked fine as they did in the earlier trial,it's just the internet problem.
My internet provider is Sky Broadband/Sagem router
The network adaptor is Realtek Rtl 81686/8111Bfamily Gigabit Ethernet(NDIS 6.20)
Any advice gratefully accepted!:sarc:

Once again thanks for the replies,as I said earlier the Windows update seems to be part of the problem,by disabling the automatic install it cures the problem, but this is only a workround not a permanent fix.
I shall keep trying!:D

If you have Windows Defender running, you might try disabling it (in 'services') and see if that helps.

Hi Lampman and Welcome to SevenForums

First question i have, was it a clean install with all drivers installed and updated for your comp first before installing any prog's and Windows updates.

I use the same Adapter and not one problem... so unless your not using Realtek driver 7.6.820.2009 which works PERFECT in my Windows 7. I have no idea.
maybe you installed a corrupt driver.?
maybe you forgot to remove power saver?
maybe your using the old 7100 driver?
Spec needed so we stop guessing. and other info as requested in above posts.
Have you set your Satellite adapter properly and reset the modem to accept the new OS.

Double checking and SKY Satellite is not fully compatible with Windows 7 nor is it fully compatible with IE8.
Since Beta was basically set on Vista that is why you had NO PROBLEMS.
RTM is more advanced. Call your support an see when they will RESET there connections so as to be 100% compliant with Windows 7 and IE8.
They played the SOS during Vista.
Minimum requirements for PCs
· Operating System: Windows 2000, XP or Vista
· Memory: 64MB (Windows 2000) or 128MB (Windows XP)
· Processor: Pentium compatible 133 MHz (Windows 2000) or 300 MHz (Windows XP)
· Hard drive space: 100MB
· CD ROM drive
· Browser : Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later (supplied on Sky Broadband Installation CD)
· Wired connection : A vacant Ethernet port is required
· Wireless connection : 2.4 GHz wireless adapter or wireless card is required
· A vacant USB port is required if a Sky Wireless Adapter is purchased
The Sky wireless adapter (or "dongle") is a device that plugs into your computer and allows you to access the internet through your Sky wireless router. It plugs into the external USB port of your PC and allows you to access the internet from your computer without cabling. It's compatible with Windows 2000, XP service pack 2 and Vista (Vista users need to connect via Ethernet cable and download drivers from the Netgear website).
Picky on the OSs they are and browsers. and if you try an mess with the MTU etc etc they can-do-will shut you down or about what ever they want... Satellite Internet is known to be shady. When I had Sky Satellite Internet

The onboard Realtek NIC on my Gigabyte board (EX58-UD3R) simply will not work with any of the drivers suggested via Windows Update. Works great with the Gigabyte driver, though.

That is strange because your mobo is rated at 100% Win7 x86 or x64 .
so the win7 drivers should work. Huuuuummmm nice but strange.
Thanks for the post.

I checked several site with MS - Sky Satellite Internet - Sagem Modems.
The forums all stated that the majority of installs the people were simply using the wrong config.
(PS: I think that means the installer (home user) never read the instruction manual so as to configure correctly.)

Every time I run Windows Update it offers to "upgrade" the NIC driver. Once every couple of weeks I give in to the temptation to see if it might be a new one that actually works. It never does.

Just my luck, I guess.

Yes clean install, apparently when i check elsewhere people had been having similar problems. Build 7100 - Realtek RTL8168B/8111B fails when optional driver update is installed
As I say the search goes on!
Thanks!

NEVER NEVER NEVER install the driver from MS ALWAYS git the driver from the manufacture

the ati radion express 1150x a friend has has the 2006 driver installed
but windows offers no updates
when i install the oct 2009 driver windows says there is an update
it offers the 2006 driver epic fail -.-

so i just hid that update issue solved
