Greetings,

I have been plagued by these random BSOD's for 6 months or so now, but have simply put up with it. Time has come when I can stand it no longer! :o

I have some Minidump files if someone wouldn't mind looking at them - I am clueless when it comes to debugging. :(

Thanks in advance for any help you can lend! :)

Have updated Lycosa and mobo chipset drivers and removed any old drivers I found. Cannot find any trace of these in my system.

Update!

I ran prime95 for about 3 hours in the hope of speeding up my BSOD occurrence, and it worked! Minidump of this BSOD is attached.

Just some history for you, when I first built this system one of the DIMM sockets on the mobo was faulty, which in turn would kill any RAM module that was placed in it. Both mobo and RAM has been replaced since.

System is not overclocked, RAM is rated for 1600MHz, but I run it at 1333MHz since things get unstable if I try for 1600MHz.

Thanks again for the help!

Let's test some more hardware.

First, since the manufacturer rated the RAM for 1600MHz, you should be able to run it at that. That is the fastest speed they guarantee it will run stably.

If you can RMA the RAM, that would be great.

Test RAM. Prime95 will test some RAM, so it's nice to have a program that will test only RAM, to try to eliminate factors. See here: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Ok, now this is getting strange. Computer fails memtest. When I first started trying to sort this problem out many months ago, memtest was one of the tests I ran - numerous times, and it passed.
Now I guess I am back to the same situation I was in before, is this mobo also screwing up my RAM. I have had nothing but trouble with this board, and I don't really want to risk buying new RAM and having that damaged also.
Perhaps I bite the bullet and replace mobo and RAM at the same time. :(

Thanks for all the help, will keep you posted if new hardware solves my problem.

Stability tests won't find errors everytime, it depends on what is causing the errors.
They are tools to help find the cause of the errors, getting errors on hardware that previously passed is not uncommon. It still means there is a hardware or driver problem.

Have you run the memtest86+ as described in the above tutorial?
Testing the RAM in different slots can help to find a bad slot, which would indicate the MOBO needs to be replaced.

You can RMA the MOBO and/or the RAM or do some more testing to find the probable culprit.

Have you checked for an updated BIOS?

Sometimes an update will fix known problems such as RAM compatibility, it's worth checking.

I ran memtest the way the tutorial describes, which is similar to the way I ran it previously (from CD rather than USB stick). Since the program is running before the OS loads, it leads me to think that it is hardware related rather than driver or other software.

Swapping the RAM sticks around was how I found the faulty DIMM socket originally, it is also how I ended up killing 4 sticks of RAM.

I see there is a BIOS update recently released, so I'll at least give that a try and see what happens.

Thanks again!

What are your DRAM and NB voltages?

D/L CPUZ , and post the CPU, Mainboard, Memory and SPD tabs.

For future reference.

If you need to run Prime95 again use the tourture test, Blend. This will test CPU and RAM.

Open Prime95, stop the test if its running, in the advanced tab select 'Round off checking'.
In the 'Options' tab select 'Torture Test', enter the number of threads for your CPU.

Be sure to monitor tempuratures while running this test.

EDIT:

From your Motherboard Manual

NOTE
For 1600 MHz memory, only two DIMMs are supported for a maximum of 4 GB utilizing
1 Gb memory technology. DIMMs should be configured as a matched pair equal in
speed and size in DIMM 0 and DIMM 1 of channel B.

This will put you in Single channel mode, I would stay at 1333MHz in Dual channel mode.

How many RAM cards do you have?
Which slots are they in?

Hi,
At work right now, will post CPUZ when I get home.

Prime95 was running blend when I used it, CPU temp was ~50 degrees, RAM temp was ~42 degrees.

I have 2 sticks of dual channel pc-12800 RAM 2gb each, they are in the black slots, which is dual channel mode.
Every other forum I have searched has said this board simply will not do 1600MHz.

Thanks again, will post screens when I return home.

P.S. I ran memtest86 over night after relaxing the RAM timings a little and it was ok for 4 passes, no errors, but the PC was frozen. Memtest was still on the screen, but not running and was no longer responding. Does that count as an error?

Hello again!

DRAM @ 1.82V (modules are good for 1.9V)
NB @ 1.325V

cpu-z tabs attached.

tRAS is actually set at 20, not 24, not sure why cpu-z was showing that. Shows 20 when I reloaded to check it.

Razer Copperhead
P.S. I ran memtest86 over night after relaxing the RAM timings a little and it was ok for 4 passes, no errors, but the PC was frozen. Memtest was still on the screen, but not running and was no longer responding. Does that count as an error?
Set all your clocks and timings as recommended by the manual, no overclocking. Run memtest and prime95 again - do both Torture and Blend.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffffffc000001d, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: fffff80002d016da, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: fffff880009a99d8, Exception Record Address
Arg4: fffff880009a9240, Context Record Address
