Windows 7 updates violating privacy

Hi,
I am reading on internet that last year have been released some udpates that violating privacy - data collecting and automatic sending : Telemetry in Windows 7
Updates :
KB3075249
KB3080149
KB3068708

I'd like to ask, if I remove these updates will this be all I need to do to prevent data collecting of my computer such as files on hard drive and so on ?
Or should I do some more work to prevent microsoft collecting my personal stuff ?

What about fresh install of Windows 7 and adding Service Pack 1 ? Will this pack contain any spying updates ?

Its the Windows Updates that bring most of the telemetry KBs I thought. SP1 is a must, regardless of what KBs SP1 brings.

To answer your question, yes you can remove those updates and then hide them the next time they appear in updates again.
Here are the most important updates to not install.
KB2952664 - Compatibility update for Windows 7 (SP1)
KB2977759 - Compatibility update for Windows 7 (RTM Only)
KB3021917 - Update to Windows 7 SP1 for performance improvements
KB3035583 - "Get Windows 10" App (System Tray Nagware/Telemetry)
KB3068708 - Update for customer experience diagnostic telemetry (replaces KB3022345)
KB3075249 - Update that adds telemetry points to UAC in Windows 7
KB3080149 - Update for customer experience diagnostic telemetry
KB3022345 - Update for customer experience and diagnostic telemetry
KB3123862 - Updated capabilities to upgrade Windows 8.1 and Windows 7
KB2990214 - Update that enables you to upgrade from Win7 to Win10

It is also a good idea to install the GWX control panel.

Rvcjew - I have downloaded and installed the program you recommended (spybot anti-beacon) but have a rather dumb question to ask please ....
I don't see it in my list of start-up programs or running in the Task Manager Processes. Do I have to manually open and run it each time please or am I failing to find the settings to make it start with Windows?

Did you download the stand alone version or the installer version? If your trying to get the same same goal as the OP I would go MeOnMine's route instead as its cleaner. GWX Control panel is also definitely a good addition I use that in monitor mode.

If you say the other two programs are superior I will certainly look in to them.

Hi,
Have you done the basic's by typing this in the start menu search box ?
Change Customer Experience Improvement Program settings

See if you're oped in and opt out if so.

Others M$ programs have separate setting in their options like
Windows essentials Photo gallery/ Movie maker/ Office/..... that need to be opted out of the above is not a global opt out.

Based upon what? Are there documented privacy issues with those updates?

Otherwise these above are all either Optional or Recommended updates which does not necessarily mean they should be installed.
