Hey n00b here but I'm having problems with my Radeon HD 5770 graphics card while running windows 7. It is brand new, as is my hard drive, motherboard, psu, ram, and i5 processor so i put all this together in my PC and installed windows 7 however i've come into some trouble in that the graphics card stops working and often (not all the time) I get the message "Display Driver has stopped responding and has recovered. Display driver ATI Radeon Family stopped responding and has successfully recovered'

Does anybody know a solution to this/ is this a known problem/ etc? any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank You! =]

Update everything you can. Chipset drivers. Video card drivers. Motherboard bios. Anything else you can think of. Get it all nice, fresh and updated and the problem should resolve.

It will help us, help you, if you fill out your specs in the lower left corner. I would do as torrentg said first. I was able to resolve my issue with that same card soon as I updated my chipset driver.

I've had a similar problem with my 5770 as well, but that was after I used the ATI Overdrive tool.. once i did that and ran COD4, the game would freeze up and I'll get that warning.

Using the default settings, I don't have that warning, but I noticed some issues in COD4 where it would freeze for half a second every 5-10 seconds (on some maps).. i'm trying to narrow down the issue but still no luck. I tested out MW2 last night briefly and I didn't notice any stuttering so this morning I removed COD4 and it's reinstalling now.

I have a 5750 in a brand new i5 750 based system running Windows 7 as well. I am getting the same issue, the screen freezes up for a second and then comes back with a message that says the graphics driver has stopped responding and has recovered.

I have a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD4 motherboard and I have flashed the latest BIOS, and I am running the latest Catalyst 7.11, and I have installed all the latest Windows updates.

Anybody have a solution? Nothing has ever been overclocked, not the CPU nor the GPU.

EDIT:
Oh, and I have installed the latest Intel chipset driver as well.

Run a game with a room fan blowing on the open case. If there are no crashes, you have the answer to your problem.

Definitely sounds like overheating. This happened all the time with my HD 4850.

So for me it's overheating with no load at all? This has been occuring on the desktop, not even tried any games... Also just a coinicdence we are both on P55 with an i5? This seems like a possible driver issue IMO. Wish there was a way to fix it :(

Checking CCC, my card idles at around 30C...

i am a system builder and I have 3 systems with P55 chipsets and 5770 video cards with stability problems that I haven't been able to resolve yet either.

Ive been googling for anyone else with the same issues and any solutions....

i dont think its heat or anything like that given how duplicatable these issues are appearing.

Could be in relation to system RAM improperly set in the motherbios bios for specific RAM modules in use.

except that all 3 systems pass memtest86+ 4.0 100% and there isnt any common RAM across the systems.

Im waiting to hear from Gigabyte on the matter currently.

Well considering we are all having the same problem I'd say it is highly unlikely to be a memory problem. My memory is rated at and has been running at DDR3 1600, but I decreased the speed to DDR3 1333 and the issue still persists. I have submitted a report about this issue to Catalyst Crew Feedback, everybody experiencing this should do the same. I will also contact Gigabyte support.

yeah overnight.

I haven't tried any Beta drivers yet as I have been reluctant to up to this stage. I might have to try them now..

Alright, then that's very good at least. Yes. Try beta drivers but in all the cases I've seen and it has been many, driver version is independent to this problem.

An idea could be to install the monitors' driver(s). Many times, Windows Update provides them and sometimes you can get them on manufacturer's site. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the monitor(s) are causing this issue instead of the pc itself or video card.

I just thought of something after checking this out.

I am not sure if this correlates, but most people who get that driver error are using Intel chips in their rigs I have noticed. I am not here to start an AMD vs. Intel war though, because I use and build both types of systems.

I recently built this new AMD rig and have been on Toms Hardware and the AMD/ATI boards to find out information pertaining to a couple non related issues. Someone there may be able to shed some more light.

I would check out the main AMD/ATI boards, although help is mainly from the community, the mods do not offer value added assistance.

I am currently getting some assistance from Gigabyte and will let everyone know as soon as I have something concrete.

How many people here have Gigabyte P55 mobos and Gigabyte 5770s just out of interest?

Ok i just bought a Gigabyte P55M-UD2 intel mobo, Intel Core i5-750 / 2.66 GHz processor, Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 4870 1Gb graphic card and 4Gb of Kingston 1333mhz ddr3 memory, i'm running it all on windows 7 ultimate 32meg.
I'm also experiencing the same problems it just keeps crashing, some times i get a blue screen but it's on and off so fast i don't have time to read it, other times i get "Display driver ati radeon family stopped responding and has successfully recovered" and some times it will just freez up.
Will be interesting to see what gigabite say curtis, maybe there is a problem with there P55 mobos, i duno but it's driving me nuts.
Please keep us updated when you get anything from Gigabyte or you find a solution thx in advance.
