Just to be clear you've been trying the mobile version of the drivers right?

It's not uncommon for laptop manufacturers to customize the device IDs for their onboard graphics, so an installer downloaded from nVidia may not recognize your adapter.

Which adapter do you have? Dell has Vista 32 bit drivers for an ATI X1400, Geforce Go 7800, or Geforce Go 7900 GS. No mobile 6800 on the list.

Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

I'd suggest using Vista drivers, but Dell doesn't list any for Vista X64. There are modified drivers floating around, like:

NBF MobileForce Se7en 190.38 (32-Bit / 64-Bit)

Maybe they'll help.
