Windows 7 XP Mode, USB problem.

I have a new HP DV5, the OS is Windows 7 with Vitual XP. I have Dictaphone installed that requires the use of a USB foot pedal. The Foot pedal is plug and play and does not come with software. Windows 7 recognizes the foot pedal and installs. This device does not show in Virtual XP any where. On my previous computer with XP I plugged it in and it recognized it immediately. Hp does not allow for the downgrade to XP and dual booting with XP is almost impossible. Please Help!!!

in top of xp mode u get option USB select it
it will list various devices attached via USB you get attach option just click /select it

the USB connected device is now connected to XPMode!!!

now the usb device will be installed automatically or u can install using the required driver

The device loads up fine in windows 7, but does not show in the USB drop down list at the top of the page.

Same Problem

I am trying to connect a Logitech wireless joystick, and it is not recognized in the drop down USB menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

XCP mode - many driver issues both in USB & sound

I have the same issues.

Philips spc900 nc/00 webcam fine in native xp, drivers not comaptible with 7 and as a usb device it is shown as an unidentified device which cannot be attached successfully in xp mode.

I also have many driver issues in 7 - for example although I have a GA-ep35c-ds3r mobo with integrated hd sound - 7 sees it correctly but xp mode shows many errors in device manager (notwithstanding attempts to load drivers)

Looks like XP mode while a good idea, needs much more work to make it a practical solution as basically it doesn't work in this beta mode.

Edit:

1. Found drivers for the webcam for W7 - resolved.

2. Situation with XP mode deteriorates - now unusable as integration fails on start which makes the feature totally useless - this is after trying toi uninstall and re-install webcam drivers (latest xp version). All I get is a black screen, no task bar no icons.

A similar problem with Palm PDA HotSync

I see that this thread has not been active for quite a long time so this posting may not be seen by anyone. However I stumbled across the thread via Google today when looking for help with a similar problem I was having with my old Palm Tungsten E2. The solution was contained in the posting from raj1402 but an addtional step turned out to be required. I do not know if this applies to any of the other problems posted.

When I had installed the Palm Desktop software directly into XP mode (which caused no problems) I pressed the HotSync button on the USB cable but just got the W7 "failed to connect" sound with no HotSync activity. The Palm PDA then reported that a connection could not found. After finding this thread, I clicked on the USB menu button at the top of the XP Mode screen but the Palm PDA was not listed. However, on clicking the HotSync button again and then clicking on the USB button while the PDA was still trying to connect, I found that it had now appeared in the list. When I clicked on Attach, the HotSync proceeded normally.

In other words, it seems that the USB device must be active if XP Mode is to find it.
