I have the Windows 8 Customer Preview installed in a Virtual Box VM. The problem is the LCD monitor is detected as Non PNP, the refresh rate is incorrect and the screen resolution choices are limited. I also run an XP VM in VB. The monitor and refresh rate are properly detected there, and I have the full list of resolutions. Does anyone know how to correct this problem in Windows 8? TIA

Are the Guest Additions installed?

Are the Guest Additions installed?

They weren't, but they are now and it helped. The refresh rate is correct and the screen is resizing properly, however resolution is still limited. The native resolution for my screen is 1680x1050. The highest setting in the Win 8 VM is 1152x864 and it's still showing a Generic Non-PNP monitor.

Edit: I think I have this figured out. Now that the guest additions are installed when I switch the VM into full screen mode it properly sizes to the monitor and shows 1680x1050. Twas a little confusing at first, but I think it's working correctly now. It just can't be done from within the Windows 8 resolution settings. It works this way in my XP VM as well - live and learn.
