Windows Activation Code Error 0xC004E003

Hi,
I was updating my windows 7 premium windows on my laptop to windows 10 using the windows update tool and ran into bit of a snag. Mid way of the update my laptop turned off due to thermal overheating. Upon starting laptop after it had cooled down, laptop started rolling back to the previous version of windows. Rollback was flawless except for losing the activated windows key.

The few options of restoring key is out for me, such as, the sticker behind laptop is not there anymore (its an old hp g62 laptop), possible code within box is also not an option, the code I got from produkey software is giving me error 0xC004E003, the option to activate through phone is absent in slui.exe 4 and system restore option is out too (possibly due to no recovery partition available).

The only option here is a reformat and reinstall using genuine Recovery media for the licensed OS with which the machine shipped - probably Win7 Home Premium.
