Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

If my experience is anything to go by you'll find that Windows 7's SP1 is the culprit.

It would appear that the upgrade path from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate will work OK, but if you install SP1 to Windows 7 Professional, and then try the Windows Anytime Upgrade, the process will fail because the addition of SP1 invalidates the upgrade path.

To prove my point, I uninstalled SP1, rebooted my computer and retried the upgrade from Professional, and then re-installed SP1. Viola! No more problems.

To uninstall SP1, go to Start>Control Panel>Programs>Uninstall A Program>View Installed Updates and select Service Pack For Microsoft Windows (KB976932) then click Uninstall.

Carry out the upgrade to whichever version you've paid for, and then re-install SP1.

I really appreciate you provided an absolute workaround in this scenario. What i am collecting right now for instance. I am doing WAU from starter to home premium and it fails. Product Key is Legitimate. Does Windows anytime upgrade consider hardware specifications.

See? We can read it now! :)

Did you try the workaround? If Windows 7 installs and activates, there are no hardware issues to consider.

The point I'm trying to make is that if you upgrade from Windows 7 to another version before SP1 is installed the upgrade will work.

If you try to upgrade AFTER SP1 is installed, the upgrade WON'T work.

Just give it a try and see.
