Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware. (Code 37)

I have the same Win 7 (x64) installed on two disks, the second one is a clone of the first one, older and newer.

If I start this machine (Chipset P35/P31/G33) with the other one, USB works, but I can't get it to update these devices to 2011 or 2013 drv from intel. I'm stuck with no USB/USB2, as you can see. I've tried to uninstall them all, driver one-by-one. Could I manually add the files, perhaps? Any ideas? Can I uninstall all drivers for windows and just restart, somehow?


I might also add that I plugged in two different USB cards on PCI, a NEC and a VIA, they didn't work any different, they both got the same yellow /!\ when plugged in. Maybe something about another driver to the USB host I should be looking at?

If you're at the very end of your rope with this USB problem, purchase a USB3 controller card and install it in the computer.

You may find that one day your onboard USB ports start working for no apparent reason. In the meantime, this card will get USB going again for you.

Could be, the thing is that other Win 7 installations, a ghost clone of this, works fine with USB/USB2. So I want to complete this one.

I had looked into that UpperFilter before, but it was for CD/DVD, so now I looked at it in the Universal Serial Bus controllers keys. I just didn't connect the DOTs, just yet.

Delete UpperFilter entry in both those, un-install all the USB and USB2 Drivers and devices in Device manager and... Voíla!
