Solved Windows Client or Windows Server?

I thought I at least vaguely knew what server meant but am now really confused after reading about KB2909921. As far as I know, I'm not a server. To me, a server is the person that brings my meal in a restaurant.

I should have put some space between my 2 screen shots & now don't know how to edit it. I'm just one person with one PC which I hardly know how to use so I'd say I'm a 'client' but as seen in 2nd shot, it shows that update to be 'Important', which is the status for 'server'. :huh:

Besides the definitions provided by UsernameIssues, "client" here refers to non-server versions of Windows such as Windows XP, Vista, and 7 while "server" refers to server versions of Windows such as Windows Server 2008, Windows Home Server 2011, and so forth.

If you still don't understand it, just assume that you're a client. The information provided there is mainly for IT professionals and enthusiasts.

Yes, it may be only critical for servers because of their different uses.
Edit: I meant the other way around.

See steps 10 thru 12 of this tutorial. It is fine to leave the screenshots as attachments to your post, but if you want to be able to write stuff (or put spaces) in between each image - follow that tutorial.

Here is what I see in the two screenshots that you provided:

The second (bottom) screenshot is of the Windows Update process telling you that you should apply KB2909921

The first (top) screenshot is info provided via a link that you clicked on for more information.

That info is telling you that this update is rated as:
Critical for clients (you)
Important for certain "affected" servers (not you)
Moderate for Windows Server 2003

Re-read the info and see if you can see the same thing.

Microsoft could use some technical writers with better grammar/punctuation skills.

All user-type machines are by definition Clients.
Only Server OS's are servers
The reason for the difference in severity here is because Server installs by default don't have Internet explorer installed anyhow

Re-read it & I still see what I originally saw. That 2nd (bottom) shot shows the rating as Important for me. (The only way I can get the ratings to show is to "Hide" them)
It's not worth haggling over so will mark solved.
