I have burnt a lot of DVDs on Windows DVD Maker and recently it will not allow me to burn anymore. I don't know what has changed, but it says "An error occurred when burning the DVD". It started working again for a little while and let me burn 2 DVDs, but restarted my computer both times. What can I do because I like this program and nothing I try works.

As any hardware device it may have a problem.
- Open device manager. Is there any yellow alerts of missing drivers?
- Open a cmd window as administrator and type:
sfc /scannow

There's a lot of reasons you might get that type of message. For instance, you might have a bad disc (s) in the batch you're using (which isn't uncommon) or, perhaps there is some dirt on the disc or, maybe, the drive needs to be cleaned. A lot of times a disc is being burned at too high a write speed. The software is set to "fastest." Without a log file, it's difficult to identify the real problem. I don't know if or where it creates a log.

How old is the DVD drive?
It can be dirt on the beam and/or on the sensor.

It says its 7 years old. I cleaned the lens and tried to burn without music on the dvd. It made it to 0.6% complete, before it only got to 0.3%. A small improvement, not much.

It seems that your DVD drive is failing.

May I suggest you to replace the CD/DVD drive by a HDD/SSD caddy and buy a small SSD (128G)
You transfer Windows and programs to the SSD and keep the HDD for data. You will have the speed of a SSD and the space of a HDD at low cost. It works very well.

Crucial BX500 2.5" 120GB
Aluminum Caddy for 12.7mm

There are two models of CD/DVD drives. You must find out witch model you have (12.7mm or 9.5mm)

That's because whatever you used to burn it with, burned a data disc instead of a DVD-Video disc. In other words, it just copied your file to disc.

I thought you meant you tried all those variations using the DVD Maker.

I still haven't found out if it creates a log file.
